K Dubb sits down with ROX-TV to talk about his new album “Blue September”, coming up in the rap game, and much more

Welcome to the ROX-TV website. We’d like to say thanks to our returning readers and also to the first timers who might have rolled in to check us out. We got a great night planned and for those who haven’t heard, we got K Dubb in the house. He’s stopped by to chop it up for a bit and talk about his career, music, and everything in between. So, without further to do, let’s get to it…..

K Dubb why don’t you tell the readers where you’re from and who you’re representing tonight?

I’m from Saginaw, Michigan. And I have my own label called Tru Playaz Music Group.

Before we get into your music, I always like to ask the artists who come on with us, a few questions about their personal journey with the music. How old were you when you first started to really get into music? Was there a specific song or group that really turned you onto the hip hop/rap vibe?

I’ve been writing music since the age of 10. My mom and auntie would play N.W.A in the house all day every day. I would write down the lyrics to the songs and learn the words. Eventually I started writing my own songs. After that I did my first talent show at the age of 12.

At what point did you go from being a “fan” of rap, to wanting to be a performer/creator?

It was when I came in second place at a talent show I did when I was around 13. The crowd showed me so much love and I loved the response so much I just fell in love with it and couldn’t stop.

If you could, can you tell the readers at the ROX-TV website what your first song was that you dropped in the studio? What was that initial experience like for you?

K Dubb is getting ready to drop the highly anticipated “Blue September”.

My first-time recording music was by myself with 2 radios and a piece of paper in the tape. Lol. I would rap off the name rapper’s instrumentals. I can’t remember my first song tho…but my first time going to a real studio was crazy. I would listen to the radio every day and there was a DJ named Joe Jackson “The unseen” DJ. He would play all the cold music. Anyway I forgot how, but I found out he lived on my street…like 3 houses down. I couldn’t believe it. He invited me and my brother over to check out the studio and record for the first time ever. When I put the headphones on my ears and said those first words into the mic, I got chills. I felt like I made it. Lol…there I was at 13, in a real studio, recording music. The first song I ever recorded in a real studio was a song called S.N.B (Straight Outta Saginaw) lol.

For the first time readers and people just getting tuned into your music, can you tell the people about where they can find your music to listen to or buy?

My music is on datpiff, Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, etc. It’s on all streaming platforms. It’s K Dubb. That’s K space Dubb. I have a mixtape called “48601”, I have one called “Almost Famous” and my newest project “Blue September” drops at the end of April. And on YouTube, type in KDubb Banks and I have videos up like “Michigan”, “Soulja Flow”, “In my cup”, and “No Hook”. And my Instagram is @kdubbtp

I’ve been told that you have a brand-new album getting ready to drop this month. Can you talk a little bit about the new release “Blue September”?

K Dubb is ready for the world to hear his brand new album which will be dropping later this month. Make sure to pick up a copy.

Yes, the album is “Blue September” which is my best work to date. And the title comes from my favorite color being blue and my birthday month September. It’s 16 songs and it’s just a great body of work. I have some great features on there too like KeiBoi, Lil Polk aka Polk D, Buddy Love, 2-Kwik, Aijalon Singz, Jimboe, Legz Diamond, Max Hilli and Cartier Caash. It has deep songs, party songs, reggae vibes, club vibes, soulful vibes and bars like crazy. It’s something on here for everybody.

I’m a big Project Born fan and I understand that you have a song called “Enemies” featuring Lil Polk aka Polk D from the PJB. Since you’re both from the Murder Mitten, can you tell the readers at ROX-TV what the song is about and how you two became friends?

I’ve been a fan of Project Born since the 90’s I use to live in Flint as a kid and I would be at my cousins house all the time and his name is Project Cobe. So we always use to rap back in the day. Then we moved back to Saginaw and a couple years later, Project Cobe and them came to Saginaw for like a year or two and when he came, he said he was in a group called “Children of da Corn”, and their big homies was Project Born, and to check out the music. Mannnn… me and the brothers played them tapes every single day from then on out. My favorite song was “Let It Go”. Fast forward maybe 2 years ago, I saw Polk on Facebook and I sent him a message. I told him I was a fan, and that Project Cobe was my cousin… let’s do a song. He responded back and we chopped it up then he said, “send some music”. I sent maybe five songs and he liked that “Enemies” the best. We went in on that joint too. Shout out again to Lil Polk aka Polk D for always showing love, giving advice and opportunities.

Can you talk about some of the other featured artists that appear on the new album “Blue September”?

“Chilling on them thangs”….K Dubb is ready to shake up the rap game. Brace yourself for the new material dropping soon. “Blue September” is a full length sixteen song banger loaded with features.

The other artists I have on there is my blood brother 2-Kwik and best friend Buddy Love, who are my fellow members in a group we have called “Tru-Playaz”. I got my dawg Kei Boi from Saginaw who also makes beats as well as 2-Kwik too. I got Max Hilli and Legz Diamond, whose also from Saginaw. They are two of the hottest artists in the city in my opinion. Also from Saginaw, I got my dawg Jimboe, man…this guy is one of the coldest at coming up with the hooks. He’s the truth. Then I got Cartier Caash which is in my opinion the most talented female I ever met in my life. Her bars are crazy and melodic, and she paint pics with her lyrics. Her stage performance is outta this world. She’s from New Jersey. And last but not least is my dawg Aijalon Singz. He’s featured the most on the album, he’s on 4 songs. He’s a singer/songwriter with vocals out of this world. This is the most talented singer I ever met face to face. He’s gonna blow real soon so remember that name.

The country has been in a weird space with the covid-19 lockdown and restrictions on live events. How has the pandemic affected your music career during this time?

No, not really. It just made me buckle down and stay in the studio nonstop and focus on my craft.

Does K Dubb has any big projects in the works, besides dropping the new album? Any news that you’d like to drop on the ROX-TV fans and readers?

Well I’m actually an artist, I draw and in the next couple months I’ll be starting my apprenticeship at Black Ink Atlanta doing tattoos. So come to the A and get a TATT and a tape from me. Lol.

As the shows continue to open up and come back, can we expect K-Dubb to be hitting the road any time soon?

I would love to hit the road after I drop my project. I’m trying to go everywhere. I’ve never been on a tour before but I’m looking forward to it. I’ve performed in Saginaw, Flint, Detroit, Indianapolis, Baltimore, and Atlanta.

I’m from the 90’s and I’ve always dug the shout outs on songs, album notes, etc. So this is the place to do it….K Dubb, who are you shouting out tonight?

I’m shouting out everybody who’s apart of the “Blue September” project. Shout out to my hometown Saginaw, shout out to Buena Vista which is the section I’m from. And shout out to the whole state of Michigan, we finally getting that look. And shout out ROX-TV for having me. I really and truly appreciate it.

From the ROX-TV viewers and readers, I would like to extend a big thank you to K Dubb for setting down with us tonight and chopping it up for a bit. We hope to have you back soon and find out what you’ve been getting up to. Until then, take care….we will be looking for that “Blue September”…..
