ROX-TV gets a sneak peak at the brand new album “King of Skulls” by SWING DEE DIABLO
Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. Tonight we have a special treat in store for you. We are going to be reviewing the brand new album by SWING DEE DIABLO called “King of Skulls”, which will officially drop on May 14th, 2021. SWING DEE DIABLO sent me an advance copy of the new release and some other merchandise that we will be discussing shortly. So without further to do, lets get to it….

The album starts with a breaking news story out of Michigan about a mysterious serial killer. I must say that I really dig artists that put the extra work into making a record unique and the opening skit is perfect. It sets the stage and adds to the anticipation of the coming content. I feel like fans really respond to these type of concept openers, I know I do. After the official news story, the album rolls right into “King of Skulls”. Diablo’s dark raps are set to a steady beat and delivers vivid audio images that horrorcore fans will dig.
Up next is the “Grewsome Grotesque” and I really dig the sounds of this track. Diablo pulls no punches during this song and lets the fans know exactly what time it is. Track four is called “Bats” and Diablo is constantly talking about settings in Michigan, which I like as a fellow Murder Mitten resident. The beats and flow are steady, clear, and concise which also earn high marks in my opinion.

Track five is called “Slice and Dice” and you can imagine by the song title, that there is some serious murder music coming for the listener. Diablo is wreaking havoc all over Oakland County and Lake Orion. “Pull my dagger out and start to slice and dice, they will find you in the basement with the rats and the mice”….
Song six is called “Cuckoo’s Nest” and continues the general theme of killer music and insane lyrics. The sounds are haunting at times and produce a feeling similar to a creepy house occupied by ghosts and ghouls. Track seven is called “Weirdos and Sickos”. Diablo spares no expense with his vivid descriptions of dark themes. “If we run out of victims we hurry up and we get more”.

The next song is called “Stormy Night” (featuring Black Magik The Infidel) and is another journey into the demented world of Diablo. The track is like a living nightmare, loaded up with imagery from a deadly night in the rain. This is the kind of song you play at midnight on Halloween, or perhaps cruising the deserted streets of the city at 3am. Track nine is called “Killas on the Loose” (featuring DJ Hype Mane and Low Life from 2 Sins). To me, this is a classic sounding horror banger and deserves two spins right out of the gate.
“Murder In Michigan” (featuring Ghosts of Detroit Underground) is next in line. Like always, anytime we have local Michigan artists dropping songs about the local scene, with a little Halloween themed shit, I’m over the moon for it. “Vehicles” is up next (featuring RareGem Arie) and RareGem Arie drops some fire on the track. The beats are dark and the lyrics continue down the wicked side of things. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album.

Song twelve is called “I’ll see you on the other side” and clocks in at two minutes and fifty seven seconds. Just like Diablo’s other tracks, I like the fact that he’s not afraid to rap in length on his songs. Some rappers don’t offer a lot of substance in their songs, but Diablo is a steady stream of wicked content. “The Blackness Remains” (The Sermon) adds another dimension and reminds me of old school releases from the golden era of the wicked shit in the mid 1990’s. I can never get enough of that.
Track fourteen is called “Black HelterSkelter” and continues the pace and theme of the album. If you like those darker songs with wicked content, this is an album for you. Song fifteen is called “Lay in it” (featuring Daniel Dahmer). The final track on the album is called “Stereo Beings” (The Sermon) and once again, I dig these cuts which remind me of those wicked mid nineties in Michigan.

Special DVD Release:
Included with the new album “King of Skulls” was a cool “Swing Dee Diablo Skullator Behind The Scenes” DVD. It has special features including behind the scenes footage from Diablo’s own cell phone. There are guest appearances and live performances including Black Magik The Infidel, Hellusin8, Scum, Death Plus, Killas Don’t Talk, Daniel Dahmer, N3Krot1k, Dead Mike The Assassin, TL Creep, Ouija Board Bricks, and much more.
We appreciate Swing Dee Diablo for sending all the gear and will be bumping that shit at high volumes in residential areas in the near future. When the album drops on May 14th, 2021 go out and get it. Indie scenes thrive when fans support their local artists, so lets all kick in and keep the shit vibrant.
Well, that’s about all the time we have for this review today. Make sure to check out Swing Dee Diablo on social media, Spotify, YouTube, and show the homie some love. Until next time…
