DJ Dankish is planning a festival for July 17th in Michigan. ROX-TV was able to sit down with Dank and talk about what fans can expect.

Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. We have some exciting news to announce about an upcoming show at Simons After Dark. The event is described as “The First Annual Dankish Vibe Life: Underground Hip Hop Festival” and I recently caught up with the Festival organizer, the one and only DJ Dankish. I wanted to learn more about the show and the motivations behind organizing and putting the event together. As always, my friend DJ Dankish was cool enough to chop up some of the details.

Welcome back to ROX-TV brother, its always good to have you on with us. So, I’ve heard some exciting news and I had a few questions I wanted to ask you. What is the “Dankish Vibe Life” festival?

It’s my first annual underground hip-hop festival up in the Detroit underground. I’m more than toked about it.

What was the inspiration behind the creation of the festival?

I wanted to really put on something for the underground scene. We deserve a real fresh show after all the Covid lockdowns went away, everyone is ready I feel.

I’ve been told there is going to be a lot of exciting artists playing at the Dankish Vibe Life Festival. Can you tell the readers at ROX-TV who some of the those groups are? How did that all come about?

Frank Nitty and Polk D will be returning to Simons After Dark for the DJ Dankish festival featuring the sounds of the underground. Don’t miss a chance to catch PJB and many more.

I picked up a lot of underground fire spitters for the simple fact that the game needs it. Some artists appearing include Gxdhatesus, Zitro & Mak Loo on a stacked Detroit underground Showcard!

I have read that Project Born will be at the festival as well. Can you talk about how that booking for the festival came about?

I’ve wanted to book Project Born for a awhile now and as soon as the lock downs were over, I had that happen so I locked them in for July 17th with a barn burner of a lineup. Honestly, I’ve never had a chance to rock with them, so this is gonna be HUGE!

How much will tickets be for the event and where can they be purchases?

DJ Dankish is ready to bring his first annual festival to Michigan on July 17th. Don’t miss the opportunity to get out and catch a live show.

$10 doors and tickets will only be available at the door so come on out and see the Detroit underground at its best!

Will you be performing your magic on the “one’s and two’s” and playing a set as well?

I plan on doing a live solo set and perhaps spinning Project Born’s live set? Time will tell…

For those that have never been to a DJ Dankish party, what can the newcomers expect from the evening?

Super high energy with fresh, live performances. We will be bringing that real rugged and raw hip-hop.

Polk D and Frank Nitty will performing at the DJ Dankish festival on July 17th at Simons After Dark. Set your calendars.

Why do you feel “live events” are important to the underground culture and do you think they are essential to keeping that connection between the artists and the fans going strong?

Live events are very important to the interaction and the intimacy of being close with the crowd. That’s exactly why I’ve always booked shows over the last decade or so, for the simple fact of the adrenaline rush I get from the crowd when I perform. That is a feeling I can only get when performing live, nothing else does it for me… which is why I’m still deejaying.

For me personally, the return of live shows is long overdue and I know that the fans are ready to pack into venues and hear the music that they dig so much. I was excited when I learned about the DJ Dankish event at Simons After Dark and will be covering the event for ROX-TV, bringing all the action back for the readers.

This will mark the first show Project Born will be performing at after their highly anticipated book drop of “Forever in the Jects” which chronicles the amazing journey of the group from the early nineties to the present day. For those of you who might not know, I’m not only a fan of PJB, but also the author of the memoir documenting the group’s history. Juggalos and fans of Project Born will dig this release, which talks about everything from the 1993 release of “Losin It” which featured Detroit Underground legend Esham, creator of Acid Rap and pioneer of the Detroit underground sound. The book also features the group’s time with Psychopathic Records and the unforgettable 1995 release of the “Born Dead” E.P. that was the first of a four part series.

Juggalos who know their history will not want to miss the opportunity to hear about those earlier years, recording “Graveyard” with Insane Clown Posse, and much more. Anyone who has ever seen Project Born in concert knows that their live sets are high energy and explosive.

The DJ Dankish festival is sure to deliver the goods and I encourage everyone to get out and support the underground artists that continue to grind out dope fire for the fans. Set your calendars and arrive early to make sure you can get a chance to witness some long overdue and much needed entertainment. The world is opening up and it is time to get out and celebrate. I hope to see you there. Until then…

Signing Off,
