ROX-TV’s “news from the underground” is back. This week we feature some show announcements, new content from artists, and more.
Welcome back to the ROX-TV “news from the underground” continuing series. As always we strive to bring the readers the pulse of the scene to inform and celebrate the music we all enjoy. I would like to take a second to remind the artists out there (in all mediums including underground rap/hip hop, rock and roll headz, folk, punk, funk, writers, poets, and artists from all walks of life) that we want to hear from you and what your doing. If you got something you want to share with the underground community and readers at large, I strongly encourage you to get at me. Although my plate is often overflowing and it might take a minute or a reminder, I will provide a space for you to shine. It’s the least I can do and that’s what we are really here for. So don’t be shy and rep your shit loud and proud. ROX-TV is with you.
So back to the reason these words are getting punched out, lets get to some of the rumblings and moves out there, where the real world meets the scene head on. Tonight I have some updates, video drop news, and other freshness, so without further to do, lets get to it…
#1 MC Snax just dropped a new track called “Snail Song”
It’s always good to hear from my homie MC Snax, one half of the dope duo “Hatchet Chat” with MC Lars. Hatchet Chat is an amazing show on YouTube which features some of the best coverage of the Juggalo Universe that is available. MC Lars and MC Snax put out informative, quality, and entertaining episodes which features the vast array of Insane Clown Posse’s body of work as well as other Psychopathic Record artists. The work they have done in capturing the history should be admired and commended.
I first met MC Snax when Project Born and myself were on Hatchet Chat, promoting our new book “Forever in the Jects” which dropped on July 7th along with the episode (number 27). I had a great time as we discussed the book and topics related to the writing and history. It was a great experience and I encourage anyone reading to check out Hatchet Chat with MC Lars and MC Snax.
The “Snail Song” is available on all streaming services. It is also available on MC Snax bandcamp for anyone looking for the MP3 or WAV file to keep. MC Snax was recently interviewed about his upcoming EP and release schedule on July 10th on “The Beastmaster Show” Episode 32 (MC Snax is introduced at 1 hour fifty eight seconds into the dope show). Congratulations to MC Snax on the new drop. Check it out today. I spoke with MC Snax this morning and this is how it went:
Thanks for rocking it up with the readers here at the ROX-TV website. Can you tell me a little bit about the track and perhaps the inspiration behind the music homie?
MC Snax: Snail Song is a laid back hip-hop/synthpop tune, designed to encourage listeners and send them some all-around positive vibes! In the lyrics, I try to use a snail’s apparent bravery – in spite of their fragility – as a metaphor for the human traits that can help people reach their goals in life. I also try to remind the listener of the ultimate goal – a dope afterlife! I tend to produce happier sounding beats, and this one is no exception! For some reason, it eventually inspired me to write about snails haha! This track is the first of three singles to be released in promotion of my upcoming EP, “I’m Not Sure About Much (but the Benevolent Realm Is Real)”. I make music to make people feel good, and I hope this song does just that!
#2 Wiked Wood just dropped a dope track called “Neck of the Woodz” featuring Ouija Macc and Bernz.
This is a haunting track done correctly. I dig the low key vibe that rolls through this track. It reminds me of walking in the city at night, perhaps after a fresh rain with half burnt out street lights flickering in the darkness. I smoked a joint and listened to this track, and could almost feel the pavement under my feet, with the street still wet from a late night rain storm. Desolate streets ahead and behind, and the moon blotted out by dark clouds. This song resonates with me in a big way. I dig tracks that not only entertain, but can take you somewhere and this fire release does that. Check it out below and enjoy.
Wiked Wood has been making some serious noise lately besides this banger with Ouija Macc and Bernz. The readers may remember that Wiked Wood just recently played the historic “Prom Night Massacre Show” with Insane Clown Posse, Project Born, and Ouija Macc on April 30th in Indiana (Piere’s 5629 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne). I was in attendance that night and rode down to the show with Project Born. I wrote an in-depth article on the show if anyone missed it for the ROX-TV website shortly after the show.
Wiked Wood is very talented and knows how to rock a show. I anticipate big things from these guys in the near future and can’t wait to catch them at a live event. I encourage the readers to catch up on Wiked Wood if they are new to their music. They are bringing the heat.
#3 IDzILLEAGLE announces a new drop coming this summer called “Serpent Crusher”
My homie IDzILLEAGLE just announced a new E.P. coming this summer for the underground. For the readers of ROX-TV, they may remember earlier in the year when I interviewed IDzILLEAGLE for the “Artist 5 Series”. We spoke about his amazing art work and album cover concepts. Please check out the article if you missed it, there is some great information and an in depth interview as well. IDzILLEAGLE was recently on my homie Bradley Smothers show “The Void” episode #4 (ROX-TV). Please check out “The Void” on YouTube for great content and music. Support the local scene. That interview will be posted below for your viewing pleasure. After learning of the planned release for this summer, I got a chance to interview him about the latest project and this is what he had to say about the “Serpent Crusher”.
When is the “Serpent Crusher” dropping and how many tracks are going to be featured on the E.P. ?
Thanks, Serpent Crusher E.P. doesn’t have a set date (as of today) but it will be before the summer is over. It has eight tracks, with one featuring JT-Blaze (kat from California).
What can fans expect from the new material?
“Expect a lot of hardcore truth, one fun song, the rest are all anti-NWO, pro-freedom, strong messages of truth and anti censorship”.
Where can fans purchase the E.P. when it drops?
There will be physical cd’s made. Available at adhoksajarecords.com and ghostsofdetroit.bandcamp.com, also on all digital platforms.
Any other information you’d like to add about the drop?
All beats were by KD the Stranger, all tracks were mixed and recorded at Rockhill Sound Studio by Tre Lb. The art is by IDzILLEAGLE Art Media.
