ROX-TV’s continuing coverage for the “Gathering of the Juggalos 21” keeps rolling with a dope interview from Myzery.

Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. I’m really excited for this one. As most of you know by now, I’ve been a Juggalo for almost three decades. This next artist came along during the 1990’s and I do remember. My first introduction to Myzery came in the form of the Psychopathic Records Sampler that was released in 1998 (PSY1018). I bought the sampler in Flint and couldn’t wait to check it out.

The inside of PSY108 features a pretty definitive statement from Alex Abbiss about the state of the 90’s in relation to “big media bullshit”. To younger Juggalos and Juggalettes, he was addressing what the early cats of the culture were up against.

Perhaps one of the most striking things about the CD is the inside cover, which featured a rather lengthy statement from Alex Abbiss. It was also my first chance  to hear Myzery. I liked what I heard and purchased the cassette tape and vinyl release of “Para La Isla” after checking out the sampler. Looking back all these years later, I think the statement by Alex was dead on. Times were different back then and MTV and radio refused to show the Juggalo world love. I’m happy to announce that this Juggalo Family has outlived MTV’s usefulness and credibility, as well as the radio stations and DJ’s that refused to play shit that people wanted to hear. So here we are in 2021 and I’m proud to welcome Myzery to the ROX-TV website. This cat is part of my “coming of age years” musically and I will never forget. So lets get to it Juggalos and Juggalettes….

Congratulations on being selected to perform at this year’s historic gathering Myzery. What does it mean to you to be performing for the Juggalos this year and what can they expect to hear?

This is my copy of Myzery’s “Para La Isla” that I purchased back in the late 90’s at Wyatt Earp Records in Flint Town. You always hold on to the good stuff and that’s exactly what I did.

“The Gathering is always a homecoming for me. Each year the anticipation starts to build up as soon as the weather starts to warm up. Its hard to explain, but it’s this important feeling that starts building from within. These fans grew up with me and vice versa. Before I was blessed into this scene, I didn’t know about shit like: road trips to crazy new places, or the magic that takes over once your body and mind give up on the idea of sleep and just goes into pilot mode, while laughing non-stop at shit your crew just did, or even the reaction of performing new or unreleased material, to a sea of diehard fans that’s on the same exact wavelength as you. It’s all beautiful and very exclusive to times like this”.

“It’s a whole other world, like a dreamscape of fun and excitement, that we all bond over together. We all get old. Memories fade out. This place is the exception. The times I’ve spent Gathering stay forever vivid in my mind. That’s facts. As for what to expect from me this year, I got some surprises going down. Anybody ever see Twin Gatz perform live? I heard he’s got an itchy trigger finger lately. My set is long this year. Who knows, I might be feeling generous with it. I promise you this though…I ain’t holding back at all”.

I understand that you will be performing Thursday August 19th, on the Clown Drip Stage? Do you have an idea about how long your set will be?

“I got 40 minutes to unleash this hellfire I been storing up. That means no kinds of gems are getting left behind. We’re talking all those “Stimulated Domes”, “Witching Hour”, 4 faces, the Clay stuff, those “Demon Angel” favorites, all the “Para La Isla” classics, and way more are gonna be blasting out through the speaker stacks. I can’t wait to rip shit up for y’all again”.

In addition to performing on Thursday, will Myzery have a merch table set up for fans to purchase your gear? Will fans have a chance to meet you prior to or before your amazing set?

This was my first introduction to Myzery and I got it in 1998 in Flint. Soon after I picked up the cassette release of “Para La Isla” as well as on vinyl. I got my “Hatchet Man” tattoo using this image when I turned 18 the same year.

“Oh yeah, of course. And we got the best lineup of merch we’ve ever had. I’m talking about new shirt designs for fan favorites like “Meatcleaver”, “Stimulated domes”, a “Greetings from the Bronx” one sick new “Witching hour” shirt and more. I’m bringing my full back catalog with me too, so if you missed an album, I got you covered”.

If you had to tell someone about the GOTJ who had never been, what advice would you have for them?

“Try and take it all in. I know the whole scene is loaded with many things to do. But even if you think something going on over at one side or at a certain time might not be something that you would be into, you can never predict the types of random hilarious stuff that could literally unfold at any place or moment there. If you go expecting to have fun, it’s 100% guaranteed and them some”.

Thanks for your time, any closing statements to the Juggalos or fans about the Gathering or anything else you’d like to say? (New music drops, releases, or any other Myzery news you’d like to share with the readers?)

“Yeah, I’m almost 25 years deep into this culture. I laid low for some years, I amped wayyy the fuck up with y’all for many other years. Most days of my life I’ve been putting in the same 24 hours a day as the rest of you. The biggest constant for me though, through everything life dishes out, is the acceptance and support of this Fam we got here. What I’m trying to say is…just thank you to everybody reading this right now. You all keep giving me these chances to collect and keep building upon all of these highlights…of my life. It gets no realer than that. Thank you!

Thanks to Myzery for chopping it up with ROX-TV. It’s important for the culture and history when artists talk about the old days and give context for the newer generations. I appreciate it and can’t wait for the Myzery set going down in Ohio. Thanks to the readers for joining us tonight and don’t miss the “Gathering of the Juggalos 21”. We are almost there now…
