New Video Drop from Gozza announced, “Warriors” video will be released this Friday. (Updated 2/08 video included)
Welcome back to the ROX-TV website on this cold day in January. Thanks to all the returning readers and hello to anyone that stopped by for the first time. We like to bring news to the people whenever possible about things going on in the underground music scene in Michigan and beyond. When I get the call or email about something popping off, I get it out as fast as I can.
If you’ve been reading this week, we have been following developments in the Flint Town scene regarding Gozza. The man has been pretty busy organizing an album release party to celebrate the drop of “Black Vinyl“. The party is going down next Friday (Feb. 4th from 5-9) and you can read about that in the link provided or just hit the news feed and scroll to the related story.
As far as the new developments go, Gozza hit me up this morning to announce the highly anticipated release of his new video “Warriors” which was shot by Inkster’s video Assassin, none other than Swigz Sinatra. ROX-TV recently did an in-depth interview with Swigz about his background in hip hop, the craft of filming, and much more. It should be noted that he worked with Gozza in the past, including the diabolical video for “Totally Insane” which also features an appearance by Flint Legends Project Born, and also DJ V1RUS. The link to the Swigz Sinatra interview is listed below and talks about the new Gozza project and much more.
As the readers know, I was on hand for the filming and production of the “Warriors” video, which was shot at various locations in Ypsilanti, including the amazing Frog Island Park which is hard to describe into words, other than it is a place that needs to be seen in person. If you’re bopping around Washtenaw County when the snow melts, stop by this magical spot. The feelings that the natural surroundings of the park produce in me was really profound. They have a perfect location and maximize Mother Nature’s appeal with unique walkways and bridges over the river.
The article above goes into a deep dive of the process and the day we spent filming the new video. I’ve said it in the past, but I need to say it again, thanks to Gozza for the invite to be involved in the video and also for allowing me to try my hand as a “Villian” in the actual video. I’ve never been intentionally added to a music video before, nor given an actual part to play, so I was excited and happy about the entire event. To Gozza, Swigz, and DJ V1RUS much credit is do, because they had their shit together and were able to work with the twenty or so cast members who participated and filmed scenes with killer determination, imagination, and vision. I don’t think people realize for the most part how much work it actually takes to film a concept video and get it right…but from my own observations it takes a lot. Not everyone can do it, which makes it special when the people that can, make the vision a reality.
I will also say that Gozza, Swigz, and DJ V1RUS made some good choices on casting, because the people that showed up took it seriously, dressed the part, brought props, and above all remembered to have fun. As fucked up as the world seems today, with distress around every corner, warnings, division, and doom and gloom permanently on the American horizon and beyond…..IT FELT REALLY GOOD TO CAST ALL THAT SHIT ASIDE FOR A FEW HOURS AND JUST ENJOY LIFE OUTDOORS WITH PEOPLE WHO JUST WANTED TO HAVE FUN AND MAKE SOMETHING COOL. I know that I enjoyed smiling with strangers, talking with people in the park, and just being human. Sorry, I get going sometimes and I have to interject the thoughts dancing in my mind. Music brings us all together, trust in that. Now back to the article…
The new video is dropping this Friday (the day after tomorrow) and I encourage everyone to check it out on YouTube. When the video drops, I will update this article with the video link, but in the meantime, will be counting down the hours until I can see the latest craftsmanship from Gozza, Swigz, and DJ V1RUS. Remember to always support your local scene because if you don’t, it might go away leaving nothing dope in its place. Support the people that make the scene function from Artists all the way down to the Merch people. We all have a part to play in making things work. So, let’s make it work and celebrate our shit. Shout out to Gozza and the 810 on this one. Watch the video, check out the listening party next week, and continue to show love for the scene.
Signing Off,
