ROX-TV takes a look at the marijuana strain “Purple Haze” tonight, thanks to our friends at Flower of Life. A perfect blend of smoke with the spirit of sound coming from the 810.
Welcome back to another episode of ROX-TV’s Marijuana Review. Tonight, we will be checking out the potent and fun strain “Purple Haze”. The experience is brought to you by my friends at the Flower of Life in Flint Michigan. Those guys are at it again, bringing some really exciting products to life for the consumption of the public. I particularly like this strain and the layout of the packaging. It melds two of my favorite things together in just the right way. You have the smoke, and you have the music, which is almost an unbeatable combo. (Author’s Warning: This article was half written while smoking the strain. Thoughts and ideas were recorded under the heavy blanket of cannabis and so drifting can occur in the content, as well as strange ideas appearing in the paragraphs)
I’m sure everyone knows who Jimi Hendrix is and if you don’t you either have no soul or have lived a seriously boring existence on this planet. I know that is a little critical but like I’ve said in the past, if you don’t know music, than I probably don’t want to know you. The reasons for these statements would take longer than the time we have to explain, so I won’t. I guess anyone that didn’t like music wouldn’t be on the ROX-TV website anyway, so I could be complaining about people that aren’t here. Moving on…
For me personally I remember the first time Jimi Hendrix really came onto my radar. I was turning twelve I believe and for my birthday I asked my parents for a Jimi album (CD form). My mom wasn’t sure this was a good idea and left the situation open ended. As May 3rd approached and the birthday rolled around, I hoped for the best. By age twelve I could appreciate the music that was happening around the country in real time and had started to “turn back” to what had come before. I knew about Rhythm and Blues, Motown, and the Rolling Stones from my dad…but I started to get curious (killed the cat) about the edgy and legendary stuff that rock music had churned out. All roads will eventually take you down Jimi Hendrix boulevard at some point and that’s where I found myself.
So, there I was…a big birthday and a wrapped present in the form of a CD was in front of me. I ripped the paper off to see what I was sure was a Jimi album and then it happened. I was confronted by John Lennon’s greatest hits. Not a bad gift in hindsight, but at the time was a serious let down. I wanted to be “experienced” on the Jimi level and instead got the “safer stuff”. Well, I guess my mom didn’t think I was ready to be a Voodoo Child just yet. no Machine Gun for me. What a jip. I had to settle for the Ballad of John and Yoko, with all that Bed Peace and non-threatening imagery.
Purple Haze Strain Review

Strain: Purple Haze
Producer: Flower of Life
Form: Flower
Method: Joint
The terpenes really are talking loud with this flower. After enjoying the amazing aroma for a bit and taking some “dry hits” to get the full view of the “taste”, it was time to add some flame and see what the “Purple Haze” was all about. Like I said, a fusion of smoke and music can not get any better for me. Two passions rolled up into one lover…that’s not a bad afternoon if I do say so myself. I always find it exciting to be sampling a new strain and also to be able to talk about my experience with the readers. Real knowledge is sometimes found between information sharing individuals. In the 1990’s thats how music heads got down. You would meet people at the record store and you would often trade ideas about cool bands and what needed to be looked at. I miss those times. Human to human contact is always the best. Sure porn is nice on the computer but will never replace a physical lover. I feel the same about internet verse the human way. The internet is nice at 3am when you’re too high to drive and want to listen to music but could never replace live music. I’m sorry, it just doesn’t. You can take my word for it because I’m old enough to have experienced both versions of America (before technology and after). Take me back to the 1990’s MFER. So anyway here we go…
Yeah, I’m feeling groovy in a major way. Thoughts of the past whirling by my eyes, the guitar of Jimi just howling in the night. My god…this is a pretty nice smoke. Head is properly fuzzed out, the anime effects are showing up, music comes alive, dancing out of the speakers. I’m thoroughly satisfied with this strain, yes indeed. I can still type, so that is always a bonus as well. To be able to record these glorious feelings of experience as it happens is the best in my opinion. The Jimi songs never sounded so good in these moments, not even when I was able to track down a J.H. CD about six months after my birthday.
As you know…I’m a disciple of music and probably a high priest in the church of dope. With that in mind…cannabis so greatly increases the power of the recorded sounds (naturally occurring sounds of everyday life as well) I don’t know why it isn’t experienced that way every time (at least when you can safely and responsibly). As Voodoo Child jumps out at me, I continue to have relaxing and interesting flashes of my past…dance across my eyes. I love strains that have enough lift to allow for those far-reaching thoughts. The body is doing well, although I’m not moving much, I feel like it would ok if I had to. Those who know…know.
The good wave hit with this smoke at about seven to ten minutes and turned down the volume on un-necessary worry or stress. This would make a great strain for after work or a weekend night. I would also pair this strain with combating anxiety and depression. Beyond this and other float worthy thoughts, the train kept moving and the day was enjoyed. Thanks to my friends at Flower of Life in Flint Michigan for the amazing kick down. This strain needs to be checked out…I’m telling you it’s nice.
Overall General Summary:
This flower was fast acting, with a nice heavy hit around the 7-10 minute mark. Body and head are feeling rather nice and relaxed. No worry or anxiety present. Music is rather agreeable. No noticeable hunger/munchie type cravings, the mind could still function at a high level, and I would smoke this again…and again….and again. I give it four out of four stars.
