Question 1: Can you tell us about your journey into music and what inspired you to pursue a career in the music industry?

Daffodil Nicki: My journey into music started at birth. Growing up, my mom was always in bands, and my parents would have big parties where everyone would jam. I’ve always loved to sing, and it runs in my blood. In school and in my community, I was always part of choir and theater. Acting is another big passion of mine. Fun fact, at 8 years old, I auditioned for America’s Got Talent, and at 15, I auditioned for American Idol. Performing has always been where my heart is. My whole life, I fantasized about being a pop star. In the spring of 2023, I decided to give it a shot and start writing my own music, and I came to find that I’m not too shabby at writing some dope stuff.

Question 2: Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound and style?

Daffodil Nicki: Some of my biggest musical influences include Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Nicks, Kanye West, and Mac Miller. Justin Bieber has definitely influenced my writing style and sound. Some newer up-and-coming artists like Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter also inspire my sound and style quite a bit. The song “Nonsense” by Sabrina Carpenter was the song that inspired me to write my own music as well. I remember thinking when I was obsessed with it last spring, “I want to make music this good, witty, and fun.”

Question 3: Reflecting on your past experiences in the music industry, what have been some of the most memorable moments or milestones in your career so far?

Daffodil Nicki: Working with Ninjas in Action Inc. and working side by side with ICP at moments has shown me the hard work and passion it takes to make something truly magical. Performing and being on stage is where I feel I belong. I get such a rush, and it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. My most memorable moment and milestone in my career so far was working on and finishing my song “Jim Carrey.” Working with my music partner Madewest Monster has been truly a blessing, and we have made some absolute amazing tracks together.

Question 4: Let’s talk about your latest project. What can listeners expect from your new music?

Daffodil Nicki: My latest project has been releasing my first music video ever. The song is something I am very proud of. The message behind it is basically in a relationship; it’s the little things that matter, being with a partner that doesn’t treat you the way you should be treated, and ultimately how no one can compare to Jim Carrey because of how dope he is. In my music, I definitely want to send a message that people can relate to while also having a level of humor to it, which you will see in my tracks.

Question 5: Can you share any insights into your creative process? How do you approach songwriting and crafting your music?

Daffodil Nicki: My creative process always starts with an idea, just like most would. I take from personal experiences in my own life and mix it with things I really enjoy in life, adding touches of my personality with the truth of what I’ve been through. Writing comes pretty easily to me, and I love doing it. When it comes to making the music, I have an amazing team behind me, Team Silly Goose, we like to call ourselves. Everyone is so talented at their part in the process. It’s a wonderful team effort by amazing producers, a fantastic engineer, and myself.

Question 6: Looking towards the future, what are your goals and aspirations as an artist?

Daffodil Nicki: For the future, my goals are to continue to share my music with the world, make memorable music videos, and to start performing. I’d love to put on a show for an audience and eventually have people sing along to my songs, as I do with my favorite artists’ songs.

Daffodil Nicki: Working with Rox-TV on my first-ever music video was an amazing experience. Bobby Lee is a great creative director. DJ Carlito is awesome at getting great shots, and Rude Boy is such a blast to work with. They definitely helped bring my vision to life, and I look forward to working with them again in the future!

Question 9: How do you see your music evolving in the coming years? Are there any new directions or genres you’d like to explore?

Daffodil Nicki: As an artist, I will always want to be in the pop genre. However, I’d love to make jazzy pop and rock & roll pop. I’d love to explore a lot of genres as I grow as an artist but always keeping a pop element because that’s where my heart lies. I want to use my budding music career as a way to express my passions and ultimately have fun and bring joy to others.
