Artist Arena : Richi Rasta

This weeks artist arena is a dope double feature on two artists making waves and catching notice in Detroit and the downriver area . Who are we talking about, you ask? None other than the one and only Slither God Richi Rasta and his main mans co founder of Mad Boy Entertainment Mak Loo. We have an MBE triple feature this week on RoxxxTv with their manager and the second half of Mad Boy Entertainment Jamye “Finchy” Finch in an article shedding light on the woman of the industry from the fore front female artists and models to the managers, talent scouts, promoters, owners and business ladies behind the scenes. In this article we will focus on MBE artist and host of many shows , concerts and bar nights, Richi Rasta. The self proclaimed Slither God has sat down and graced RoxxxTv with a great interview that will continue to bring you back asking for more Richi. He gave us some insight on the history of the Rasta man, answered some intense questions and dropped some news for your eyes and ears. Richi is a true old soul with a young heart with his personalty and style. His social media will have you feeling like Bernie Mac has a long lost son or Katt Williams left him some game. It’s a mix of Pimp Game and Young Swagger, ladies gentleman and gangster. He has a way of lacing different beats in many ways, whether you want to get hype, chill n smoke or knock bootz he can deliver it for you. Richi is a great hype man, performer, host and all n all cool guy to be around. He can drink with the best or smoke you out, the choice is yours. So with out giving up too much make sure you stay watching out for Mad Boy Entertainment and Richi Rasta the Slither God.

 

How did you get your start in music and what was your inspiration to go from free styling to recording full tracks?  Who was/were your musical influences?

I started really rapping at 15. I had friends from school really push me. My influences are Pimp C, Gucci Mane and a bundle of Detroit rappers.

How did you chose your stage name or was it given to you?.

Richi was a nickname as a youth. I had a lot of cash and no bills lol so I was Richi Rich. I smoke a lot of weed so I changed it to Richi Rasta.

How would you describe your style, sound and presentation?

 My style is all pimp and energy. Picture Goldie with a Gucci Mane beat and Lil Pimp energy

What has been your favorite event (yours or others) and do you have a crazy or unforgettable memory that has happened at one?

Recently my favorite event was Brody mixtape release party. It was hilarious and good crowd energy as well.

What song do you think is your best song so far or do you have a favorite track &

What song have you had the best experience recording?

Anytime I’m in the studio it’s never really a bad experience. It’s always good vibes and good weed.

My best track isn’t made yet. I love all my songs. Slither God is one of my favorite originals but my favorite will be what the street is feelin.

Will you ever sign a major label deal or forever stay in your own lane doing your thing in Michigan and continue bigger and better things to come?

I’m with whatever happens. If the paperwork n money right I’ll sign. If I don’t get farther than Michigan I know my family n friends still have something to remember me by.

How does it feel up on stage ? Does it affect you if the crowd is large or small and how?

Being on stage is fun. I love the energy large or small. I love to perform.

What is your favorite track or album by another artist?

Mak Loo’s Never Been.

Who have you been able to work with that made an impression on yourself and your work?

ATM Krown and Free Chedda Boy Malik. Mak. Shit, the list goes on.

 

Any major or local artist’s you would have to work with if you had the chance?

Pimp C if he was still here. Guwop. Wiz and J Cole. Maybe Drake.

Do you have anything new in the works?  Could you drop any hints?

Slither God album on the way!

This new downriver artist Z Perelli came at you out of the darkness. Can you explain why he might have done that ?

He want some shine off the sauce. He know who winning. He wants winnings off us. Can’t slick this can of oil though.

After numourous times of calling him out for a battle with him avoiding the question do you feel a real diss track is in order or shots need to be fired back ?

No but if y’all pay me I’ll murk dawg lyrically. Other than that no more freebies G.

Is this just Perellis way of catching yours and Mad Boys wave and market himself ?

He not dissing Mad Boy, he not dumb. He is actually bringing more light on me in the downriver area. Making a fool of himself. Don’t be like him.

Tell us about Slither Gang and what it stands for ?

Slither Gang- be yourself and move how you want. Me and all my brothers all solid and locked in together. We think different, move different, hustle better, dress, talk, handle situations different than these so called men out here. And the women recognize it.

Is Slither Gang just a form of marketing or is it a movement ?

Slither Gang is my brand, my label, my movement. It started from 501 Dirtybread Gang an original name of my homeboys from Brightmo and Schoolcraft area. Older we got the name changed. But that’s me and Mak and Jamye own MBE.

We know you support the thickies and bbw out there and ain’t afraid to admit it but what makes up a bad chick in your opinion ?

I don’t think any thing is bad, it’s all an experience. But a bold female for me is a broke women with a rich mind.

Do you drink, smoke or do both and whats your favorite drink?

I’m a smoker baby but I drink tequila n heavy 1738.

What’s your favorite spot to chill at when you’re not at a show or the stu? (club, bar, hot spot, etc.)

I’m either in the Mo. on the Craft. On dexter. Or I’m east on the Ridge.

Any tips for future artist, DJ’s, freestylers, or entertainers ?

Your artistry is endless. The sky is the limit. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone n be you. Do what you want to do.
