Tech N9ne: Technicians Growing Up Strange

Tech N9ne Shapes The Industry And Fans Into Something Better
Written By: Tasha Rage
Tech N9ne is continuing to do more for the fans and the industry. And by all means, argue which album is better if you so choose. But, before you sound off with your thoughts, allow me to give you some insight. This is less about his music and more on the impact he makes in personal lives. Not to mention, this may give you a completely different perspective on Strange Music in it’s entirety.
This article is brought to you by our friends at 7th Dimension. Start off your day right with some Red Fred coffee or other flavors. And if you haven’t heard, they also offer the highest quality kratom. Be sure to check them out and tell them Tasha sent you. They’ll be glad you did.
And now for your reading pleasure.
Don’t Be A Slacker
Arguably one of the most famous Tech N9ne songs, Slacker is still talked about today. And this is where the growth starts. When I first heard this song, I was smoking pot and watching music videos. Yeah, I was a bit of a party girl back in the day. And one day, I just stopped. It’s really no different than looking back and figuring out when you stopped playing with action figures. One day, it just happened. However, Tech N9ne was doing these things and it shows.
Nonetheless, this emcee would later leave this song in the past. And I truly believe he wants us to as well. Because he wants us to be successful. That’s all part of growing up with Tech N9ne and his music. Why be a forty year old, smoking pot with no signs of excelling in life? Perhaps maybe, this isn’t selling out after all. More on that coming up soon.
Welcome To Something Else
One of my favorite albums from Tech N9ne is Something Else. And this wasn’t just an experiment or a concept album. This was letting us know he was branching into something different entirely. Away from Everready, K.O.D and so on. Now, while I’m jumping ahead here, think back to all these albums. Each one could cater to one or more fanbases. Something Else however, is without a doubt a masterpiece, beyond his other works. Straight Out The Gate featuring Serj Tankian is ground breaking. And the album continues on from there.
I think Tech N9ne is simply celebrating his success. Almost every song has a feature you don’t expect. Cee Lo Green, The Game and the Doors all on one album. And why would Tech do this? Again, it’s to celebrate with his fans that have grown up with him. Again, I’ll say this: Him and Strange Music want better for us. Yes, we’d be buying more merch but wouldn’t we also be living better?
Tech N9ne Expands And Stands Out
As previously mentioned, there’s a long history of branching into different genres. Strange Music as a whole has this reputation ever since the dawning of Killer. And to me, this album incubuses horror with casual hip hop. For instance, Hope For A Higher Power and The Waitress. Oh, and let’s not ignore the fact that this is a two disc album. And front to back, it’s my second favorite Tech N9ne CD.
From my perspective, it appears Tech is the kind of guy that doesn’t say no to opportunity and works hard. And I don’t feel like he’s given enough respect in that regard. If any at all. And I’ll also add that Tech N9ne shows love to fan bases from Juggalos, to casual hip hop fans, to horrorcore fans.
As of late, he’s just trying to do something else. And that’s what he wants all of us to do. Tech N9ne wants to grow with him and succeed in whatever we decide to do. Because I truly believe he cares about is fans. Hence why he’s humble. The fame never went to his head. Which, also shows.
