Lunchboxxx, real name Dustin Hammond, is a Michigan local rapper from Alma but now comfortably in the Detroit Metro area in Mt Pleasant. Lunchboxxx stands out as an artist both because of his unique talent that shines amid the music scene today and because of his humble personality.
Lunchboxxx might seem like a strange name at first, however, once you come to understand that his genre of music is oft called “Lunchtime Music” and his many fans are referred to as “Snackpacks”, perhaps this might shed some light on what makes Lunchboxxx unique and what goes into crafting his sound.
I first discovered Lunchboxxx during my first step onto the scene with Kurtis Tripp’s Tripp Back Home and I was instantly a fan when I heard his music. With bars for days and each line a meaningful, well-crafted sentence, I knew that just like XO, he had to be on my next album. The Lunchboxxx Files remain in my daily rotation.
Originating as a battle rapper in Flint, Lunchboxxx secured some of his first shows by simply freestyling outside venues, a feat that speaks to his level of skill. A logical thinker, Dustin made sure to ask me situational questions regarding my humorous interview question regarding duck sized horses and horse sized ducks before arriving at a conclusion (are we outside, can we use tools, etc.). This shows in his music as well, even if the scribbled notebook he writes in might first throw you off.
With an absurdly amazing foundation of musical influence ranging from Aaron Carter to Ludacris, Lunchboxxx pulls from all different types of music. This is demonstrated by his lyrical prowess and masterful delivery. Even on stage, he carries a presence and makes people notice. Taking the local scene by storm, it is always Lunchtime in the Tripp household.
