Artist Arena : Psychoetry

This is the artist arena you can check out all new underground and local acts mixed with legends in the game we can never forget. This series of articles will focus on the artists doing their thing at all levels of talent, time in the industry and recognission. Today’s article will focus on a dude doing his this in his own way with his own unique sound and style I have only found in legends like Claas, Immortal Technique, Insane Poetry, Ill Bill, and NAS.
Psychoetry is a 28-year-old hip-hop artist based out of Evansville, Indiana, who has been writing since the age of 12, and recording since he was 18. You can recognize his poet background and ability in his lyrics and way he relays his message to you over a dope beat. He takes you back to the times of early hip hop of the 80s and the woke rap of the late 90s with lyrically quality that you could take away the beat and still hear it in your heart and head. His musical content is woke and deep in touch with personal feelings and emotion, with a strong positive undertone to help reach those fans and new listeners who need an artist to connect to.
He uses his music as a way to vent out things he goes through in life, as well as things other people are going through. He strives to use my music to help lift others up, to inspire them to not let the bullshit in life get them down. He is a true poet and artist as well as a motivational speaker to his fans and listeners.
So, tell us something about yourself or style you feel sets you apart from other Underground
artists?
I actually rap about things people can relate to on a deeper level. I don’t sugarcoat things or fabricate bullshit with my music.
How did you get your name?
I use my music as a kind of therapy to vent with, and rap is poetry.
How long have you been writing rhymes, and do you feel you have made a break thru track yet
or is it still to come?
I started writing when I was 12, I’m 28 now, so 16 years. I feel I’ve made multiple breakthrough tracks that help people out, or that they enjoy.
Who are some of your influences or anybody you dream of working with?
D12, Korn, and Mike Shinoda (RIP Proof)
You’ve done work with some major underground artists in your genre, how does it feel to have
had the chance to work with them and be on a project together?
Only one I’ve really worked with is Menacide, and he’s a cool motherfucker
I heard the new track you just dropped, it had a deep flow and meaning to it, can you explain
the mind set you had to tap into while writing and recording the track? Was it from life
experience or just your opinion on people in general?
It’s from personal experience and fuck Iced Gemini and anyone else who is sadly mistaken and thinks I need them when they act shady.
You have an abundant amount of music available on you tube, and other sites can you tell me
which track you have done that is your favorite or best work so far?
Funny When You’re Mad, Upside Down, I Don’t Need You, and definitely Confusion
Do you have any new projects coming out or more new tracks ready to release?
I’m currently working on a new project, and I’m also being featured on both Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the Raw & Rugged mixtapes, which are being released by Sticker StAsh Customz
Where can fans catch you at a live performance or online to get to be a part of a Psychoetry
experience?
My local scene is garbage, so pretty much you can find me at facebook.com/therealpsychoetry
Any last words or advice for the fans, poets, or aspiring artists out there
Don’t give up, keep pushing, PRACTICE. Don’t expect to c ome out and just blow up overnight, and don’t even start if you aren’t 100% passionate and are willing to make sacrifices for your success.
Any shout out, plugs, Shameless self-promo?
Big shout-out to Emz, Bruce Renschler, Sticker StAsh Customz, Trent Abanatha, Dillybob, Menacide and McNastee, Piran Wright, Casey Johnson, and every other fan who has stuck by my side over the years and never gave up on me!
