Twiztid Changes The Underground Scene Forever

Twiztid Has Altered The Music Scene Forever
Written By: Sid Jones
Twiztid, the demented duo from Detroit kickstarted Warped Tour earlier this Summer Thus far, the reception has been astronomical. There’s been a lot of buzz about Jamie Madrox and Monoxide Child joining in on the last Warped Tour. However, little has been said about where this will take the music scene. In this article, there will be a lot of examples, evidence and speculation. What happens after Warped Tour? What becomes of the music scene and how is it altered?
Breaking Barriers

Think back to high school. The cliques and the hierarchy. There were the people that listened to heavy metal, rock n roll, pop music and rap. Look around and it continues into today’s music landscape. Twiztid has changed all that. The prime example is their videos featuring the heavy metal band, Nekrogoblikon. Both Twiztid and the previous mentioned have great chemistry and a mutual respect. This is a potential glimpse into the future of booking and live performances. There’s a strong change we will see and hear We Need A Gimmick. Followed by, We Don’t Die. It’s safe to say, people wouldn’t mind watching a goblin spit rhymes with a flat billed hat either. Pure entertainment!
Reviving A “Warped” Tour

Something to consider. With Warped Tour, a staple in music festivals coming to it’s final days, what does that mean? It means there is a chance for growth. With the dinosaurs going extinct, man has been able to flourish. Think of Warped Tour as a T-Rex. Now, bands have the capability and creative freedom to create their own version of this Summer festival. As previously stated, with barriers being broken and Twiztid reaching out, there is a lot of potential. Journey’s Presents the 1st Annual U.G.H Summer Tour hosted by Twiztid. That has a nice ring to it. “Are you going to U.G.H?” to which your friend replies, “I’m hitting Detroit and Toledo!”
Inspiring Collaboration

We’ve already heard Twiztid dabble with heavy rock music. Nothing To You is a milestone in that regard. Now, we could hear remixes, mixtapes and much more. These projects could potentially be inspired by bands such as, Nekrogoblikon or even Falling in Reverse. We’ve already pondered watching a goblin rap on stage in front of thousands! Now, flip that and see what Twiztid manages to pull off. Just picture Monoxide Child shredding it up with a guitar and Jamie Madrox on drums. The album Abominationz performed in it’s entirety, with a live band.
Underground Unity
This has been one of the main subjects thrown around online. Social media hashtag #undergroundunity has made it’s mark. Branch that out for a moment. A person standing next to you with a Slayer t-shirt and Mushroomhead face paint. On the other side, a person in Twiztid paint and a hatchetman on their shirt. This revitalizes the scene, making music enjoyable under one roof. Or better yet, on the same tour. It echoes back to breaking barriers, this one being on the level of the fans. Without the fans, what would become of the artists? The nature of the beast requires both the artists and the fans. The wider the fan base, the more creativity flourishes. 90% of what makes the show is the environment. The audience makes up that environment. whether it’s 300 people or 3,000,000. If everyone has a good time, the numbers are just that. Only a number. Energy is required more so than attendance.
Mainstream Potential

The more people you work with, the more people you know. Just to break the ice immediately, watching Twiztid perform is an incredible experience. Picture them performing for a capacity crowd in Madison Square Garden. The chances of that happening have increased. Significantly. That would also give other underground artists a chance at mainstream spotlight. Tech N9ne for example, has reached a status where he can work and tour with anyone. Twiztid has begun that climb and Warped Tour has been a huge boost in that direction.
By breaking off into uncharted territory, there is no telling where this will take Twiztid and their fans. The future is bright! Next time RoxxxTV sees you, it could be at a Powerwolf concert with Twiztid, also performing. Two tickets please!
