ICP Album Will Fearless Fred Fury Disappoint?

ICP Has A New Joker’s Card Coming Next Month. Will It Live Up To The Hype?

Written By Sid Jones:

ICP, the Insane Clown Posse has a new album coming out next month. The Juggalos are excited and anticipating Fearless Fred Fury, the fourth joker’s card of the second deck. Some juggalos are a little nervous about the album. From the change of tone, beats and the notable style change from their earlier releases, To the artwork and how it steers away from the entities on the second deck. The differences are there.

So what does this mean? What will emerge from this joker’s card? Will it live up to the hype? What does the majority feel about this upcoming ICP album? Well, here at RoxxxTV, we have our own thoughts and speculation.

The Song Most Anticipated

A while back, Violent J released seven song titles. West Vernor Ave, Peek A Boo, 1967, Game Over, Friend Request, Satellite, and, WTF. So where does this leave us? Well, I think this proves to be interesting. You could take these songs and go in a million different directions with them.

I think there is potential here for some call backs to albums such as, The Great Milenko. That’s with the song, Peek A Boo. First thing that came to mind was the track, Boogey Woogey Woo. Which, isn’t a bad interpretation.

However, other songs such as, Game Over and Friend Request. Have the potential to be diss tracks. We don’t have to speculate to who or why, the majority of our readers can figure that out. The song that I’m concerned about is Satellite. First off, I thought of P.O.D. So that already made my stomach turn. One, I’m not a fan and two, it lacked creativity, unlike what we had seen in their previous albums.

I will say this, West Vernor Ave and 1967 have me very interested. I have taken the time to dive deep into what 1967 could have in store for us. Here’s what I’ve gathered. Now, please do not think you’re about to read every single event to have happened in the year mentioned. This is not a history lesson.

I am simply looking at what is significant about 1967 for the Insane Clown Posse and the story of the joker card saga. 1967, treaties were passed, including prohibiting of weapons of mass destruction from outer space. War, violence and the state of the world has been a huge part of the ICP Saga.

Perhaps, this will play a part of birthing Fearless Fred Fury. The Cold War was still engaged and racism was running rampant. Another subject the Insane Clown Posse have stood strongly against.

The possibility that maybe 2018 has reminded ICP of 1967 as a whole. When looking at the current events, you can see the similarities. War and the spike of racism in the media. Perhaps looking at Bang! Pow! Boom! We can see a little call back. Maybe this song ties the fourth card of the second deck together? Nuclear war, Martin Luther King Jr denouncing the Vietnam War etc. This song has me gearing up, wanting to know more.

This song also makes me think of Amazing Jeckel Brothers. Specifically, I Want My Shit. Those that know this song, know where I’m coming from. When Fearless Fred Fury is unleashed upon us all, 1967 is reason enough for me to buy the album. I love history, and this song caters to me already. Thumbs up to ICP for this track.

The Artwork

This has been broken down by many YouTubers and juggalos all over the internet. The call back to The Amazing Jeckel Brothers and The Riddlebox, Is it a factory? Why the rat? The crowbar etc. First off, the album art is amazing. It is also the only card on the second deck that resembles anything close to the original six joker cards. It looks more suitable. With the Missing Link Lost and Found, Fearless Fred Fury looks like he belongs. Mighty Death Pop and Bang! Pow! Boom were simply explosions and aftermaths. They were embodiments of devastation, not necessarily spirits of the Dark Carnival.

I did some more research on the second deck. I came across some potentially, valuable information. Moving forward, there seems to be a tie between the first deck and the fourth card of the second deck. That is something everyone needs to keep in mind. We all love hidden Easter eggs and callbacks. Flip the Rat (the rat on the chest of Fred Fury) is not the first animal companion to be featured within the Dark Carnival. The Wraith: Shangri La and The Wraith: Hells Pit each had a raven. On the Shangri La album, the raven is looking over his shoulder and away from the Wraith. On Hell’s Pit, the raven is staring at the Wraith. Both are on the same shoulder.

When you look at Fred, his companion is on the opposite side of his body from the previously mentioned. Also a small thing to mention is that the Raven had it’s own song. Flip will have his own EP. The Great Milenko has his own companion as well. I can’t tell you what kind of bird it is, considering it’s not mentioned or talked about at any length. However, it’s further evidence that Fred Fury will be an everlasting and quite possibly a revisit to the original six.

Possibilities Are Endless

While it’s safe to say this album holds promise, let’s look into the longevity and future potential. If it comes to pass that Fred Fury gets a backstory, perhaps maybe we can get more music based around the first deck. It’s not difficult to accomplish. If there is a story told of who Fearless Fred Fury is and he even gets an origin tale, so could the original joker cards. Imagine knowing where the Riddlebox came from? Or the origins of Milenko and the Jeckel Brothers? The backstory of the Wraith?

If 1967 is in fact, the year where Fred was born, perhaps ICP has plans to do the same for all of the joker cards. Maybe we can get more of the music we love. I think this would be best to have happen at the 20th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos. Don’t forget, this is only the fourth card. There are still two more to come. At least for the second deck. I think it would draw inspiration to revisit and introduce us to the other exhibits of the Dark Carnival.

So before people disqualify the upcoming ICP album, give it a chance. This is uncharted waters while at the same time, potential to get that old ICP sound again. Maybe this is the card that brings it all together. Let this excite you. Let this open your mind to the possibilities. On October 27th, whether you like it or not, Fearless Fred Fury will emerge.
