Riot Fest 2019 Selling Out Fast 15th Annual

Riot Fest 2019 3 Day Passes Are Selling Fast!
Riot Fest is returning to the Windy City! And this is the 15th year going strong. But, this year is the one you don’t want to miss. 3 day passes are currently available for 129.00 and that is a steal. However, the passes are selling fast. And if you look at the line-up, it’s completely understandable. Cock Sparrer, Against Me! Bikini Kill, Streetlight Manifesto and many more.
So, what I want to do is give you a glimpse into the history of Riot Fest and help them celebrate 15 years of mayhem. And I’d like to thank Carefree Foods for sponsoring this article. Whether you need catering for an office party, or a wedding, Carefree Foods supplies your event with fresh food at great prices. RoxxxTv couldn’t do our travels without them.
The Early Years

It’s 2005 and Chicago is gearing up for a multi-venue showcase of punk and rock. And the weekend headliners were that of the Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Bouncing Souls and The Germs. What’s more, Riot Fest is giving away tickets on their Myspace page. Founder Sean McKeough booked the Metro, Subterranean, Double Door, Cobra Lounge, and the Congress Theater. Danzig, Social Distortion, Bad Brains, and returning band Cock Sparrer also performs.
In 2012, Riot Fest is moved to much bigger territory. And because the venues could no longer contain the demand, it’s turned into an outdoor festival and carnival. Yes, you read that right. What’s more, the festivities went on tour throughout North America. From Brooklyn, to Toronto, all the way to Dallas, Texas. And those attending the chaos on the road would witness legendary performances. The Adicts, Dropkick Murphys, Off With Their Heads, Andrew W.K and many others. Including, Iggy Pop and The Stooges.
History In The Making
The year 2013 is historic for Riot Fest. It is noted for the reuniting of The Replacements. The band publicly broke up at the Taste of Chicago in 1991. However, the festival brings live performances from, The Flatliners, FLAG, GWAR, The Interrupters and many more.
However, 2014 would be the last year for Humboldt Park. Roberto Maldonado states that the storms were the cause for not having Riot Fest return. And that’s because of a storm that caused over 150,000 dollars in damage. 2014 includes an inaugural panel with the likes of Henry Rollins, Greg Graffin and others. Clutch, Wu-Tang Clan, Cheap trick and many others would perform over the 3 days.
But, once again trouble strikes the festival the following year. Due to gentrification, grass conditions and lack of financial benefits to the residents, everything was moved to Douglas Park. And even after settling in new territory, there would be a battle with Saint Anthony Hospital. The reason? Well, Saint Anthony claims that “the festival would be detrimental to their patients health because of the “extreme noise.” And that because of the heavy traffic that surround the hospital.”
Eventually, both sides would come to an agreement. Which includes “…restoring parking on 19th Street in front of Saint Anthony Hospital, building pedestrian barricades on the west side of California Avenue and sound monitoring within the hospital to protect patients.”
Celebrating 15 Years Of Riot Fest
2019 commemorates 15 years of Riot Fest. And this one has a solid line-up of performances, just like every other year. Including, the return of Cock Sparrer. One of the greatest Oi bands of all time. And just like every year, this one is a brew of variety. From Blink 182 to Rancid and of course, Jerry Lee Lewis. Currently, three day passes are going for only $129.00!
