Easily Offended Fans Are Ruining Music History And Culture

 

Easily offended fans are destroying what’s left of creativity and culture. And in this article, I’ll explain how. But, keep in mind that this may offend some people. However, I have facts to back it up. In this day and age, people have the ability to report things on social media. And it’s becoming easier. Shake your phone while you’re on Facebook and boom! A report post option pops up on your screen. See, when I was growing up there was a process to report things on Myspace and so on. Now, it’s becoming much easier and people are in fact, utilizing it. And it could be because it’s easier, rather than necessary.

We live in a day and age where everyone wants to feel special. And they want to feel important and above others. You can thank Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for that. However, their motives and their agenda is tearing apart music and it’s history. Which, should be criminal. There is footage we will never get back, music videos that won’t be monetized and robbing a culture as a whole. And platforms like YouTube are catering to these people. If a video is not “viewer suitable” it is either taken down, or pushed deep into the cesspool of their algorithm.

 

The Dickies Warped Tour 2017

You may not be familiar with this, but I did a list of the 5 most outrageous moments in punk rock history. And each entry included a video. One of which, was The Dickies in Denver, Colorado during Warped Tour 2017. That video is gone forever. Which, is a tragedy considering this is something that could be featured in a documentary, or referred to in the future. But, because an easily offended viewer decided they didn’t like it, they were able to tell the rest of us that we can’t enjoy it either.

And that’s a huge problem. It would be like me watching something on my television and having some easily offended person walk up and turn it off because they didn’t like what I was watching. And we’re complying with this? No one is putting up a fight? It’s ridiculous and it’s immoral.

1.They complain more often than not.
2.They are always the victim.
3.They are insecure.
4.They are narcissistic.
5.They just want attention.

 

New Fans Lack Fortitude

Artists and bands today are whiney. For the most part any way. Songs about breakups, broken homes, daddy wasn’t there etc. are plentiful and they’re everywhere. I remember when people complained that Eminem sang about him mom too much. Now, there’s a demand for essentially the same song, one after another. Why? Because it’s relatable. Which, I find to be interesting considering we live in a “hook up generation” relationships are in a sense, going extinct. Again, thank you social media for making the world great again.

And this is where things get murky. “I need to relate to this somehow, or I won’t like it.” And that’s fine. Be narrow minded, but because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you can take that away from someone else. But the easily offended will. Think back to the edited songs you and I listened to on MTV. Ludacris had a song titled, Act A Fool and they bleeped out the word, shotgun. That was television at six in the morning. And I hate clean versions because it’s censorship. And I’ve never been for censoring anyone. But, the easily offended can take it a step further and remove what you enjoy listening to. And they’re being backed by social media.

I do however, have a cure that for that problem. Whenever someone reports one of your pictures, videos, or content and you find out who they are? Tag them on a post, tell them what they reported and just walk away for a few minutes. These easily offended fans must be ostracized.

But are you ready for a twist? According to this article, black metal fans are the most offended demographic. Mind blown!
