MNE Announces Rydas: What Does This Mean For The Label?

MNE Confirms New Rydas Project For November

MNE (Majik Ninja Entertainment) is in the process of releasing a new project. And this may be familiar to the Juggalo world. However, this project seems to include AXE, G-Mo Skee, Twiztid and others. But what does this mean for the label? As previously mentioned on an episode of Sid Talks, I stated that Twiztid is branching into new territory. And I’m still curious if they go onto that journey into other genres with their music.

This MNE announcement has the Juggalo world split into two polarizing opinions. While some are excited, others are opposed to the concept. But they aren’t the ones writing articles, so I guess that’s where I come in and put in my two cents.

WARNING: The following thoughts and opinions do not reflect that of RoxxxTV, every single Juggalo out there reading this, record labels or affiliates. Some restrictions may apply and may not be suitable for all readers.

Now let me be clear on something. I like the idea of supergroups. And once again, I mention this in an episode of Sid Talks as well. But in this case, I have mixed feelings. First, we already have the Year of the Sword album. And it’s a good album. In fact, I probably still have my copy sitting around here someplace. But why does MNE need a super group project? They already have Dark Lotus (another controversial topic) and they have a roster they can bring together for more albums.

Secondly, why Rydas? Lets say this is just an album and not a super group. Is the title that marketable to a mass audience? Absolutely not. But again I can’t speak for everyone. I’m certainly not the voice of a generation by any means. I just think this concept is going to Pidgeon toe the label back into the Juggalo world.

Final Thoughts

There are a few factors to consider. One being that we have not seen or heard Alla Xul Elu on a project like Year Of The Sword. Even though their album The Almighty has a lot of great features on it, we have not seen the group be apart of something like this before. However, looking at the dynamic with G-Mo Skee and how completely different and unique he is could bring something new to the table. Especially with Xul.

However, I think the name of either the group or the project may be a little too on the nose. And not exactly fitting for the horror group AXE. Unless we get to see the group with their masks and flat billed ball caps cocked to the side. In which case, two please!

Is this highly marketable? Not exactly, this is going to be a very specific target market for the label. And I’m not sure what the general consensus will be. However, when this project releases, I will be doing a review on my Sid Talks! So, make sure you’re following us on Facebook for more on this as it develops.
