Beetlejuice 2 Reportedly Cancelled, Plot Details And More

Beetlejuice 2 Is Officially Cancelled Here’s Why
Written By: Sid Jones
Beetlejuice 2 is something fans are looking forward to. However, according to some inside information the film is officially cancelled. Again and we’re going to break down why this is happening and go over the original plans for the film. But before we do, let’s take a minute to look back at the classic cult film and remember the cartoon that shortly follows in the early 90s.
Now, I’m willing to bet you have a copy of the film sitting on your shelf. Because the film is something everyone should own. Especially with it being in so many bargain bins and used movie stores that still exist today. So, if you go to the special features, you will find a couple of Beetlejuice cartoon episodes that originally aired on Nickelodeon. And I suggest you watch them if you haven’t already. Maybe this will quench your thirst over the combatted sequel.
Original Plot
According to our sources, Beetlejuice 2 is originally written to take place in a tropical resort that is built on a burial ground. Now, I’m already wishing this would come to fruition. Can you imagine the amount of dark content? Not to mention how many characters could potentially come from this? And don’t forget about the millions of references etc.
However, movie execs think the script needs some rewriting. Which, set everything back and is always a bad sign when it comes to pre-production. And if you don’t believe me, just look at Suicide Squad. Millions of dollars spent to water down a movie? I’ll pass.
So, after the release of Dumbo Michael Keaton and Tim Burton became burned out by the idea. Despite everyone being on board at one point including Wynona Ryder. The film is officially labeled as “shelved.”
Alternatives
While the film industry may not be keen on movie sequels or reboots *cough, cough.* There are streaming services that will pay top dollar for a concept like Beetlejuice 2. Or maybe a mini series. But something to keep in mind is the current landscape of the digital entertainment industry. For instance, Fox being bought out by Disney and the competitive streaming services that want your money. And they’re competing in what I call a “film and television arms race.”
For example, you’re walking around the mall with your friends and there are these kiosk attendants everywhere. And they’re ruthless, shoving merchandise in your face, stepping in front of you and so on. Well, that’s what streaming services are doing. And you’re not only they’re consumer, you’re advertising for free. So, instead of having an entire marketing campaign, they’re on vacation and you’re doing all the work. That meme you post about baby Yoda? Or the gifs you send to people? Yep. Those are all marketing ploys. And that’s like going to a grocery store and bagging your own items. Nice work society, be proud.
