A Juggalo’s Guide To Los Angeles

« of 12 »

So you made it to LA for Juggalo Weekend but you’re not sure where to spend your free time or where some decent affordable spots to eat are? Well, we got you covered!

In the general vicinity of Pershing Square there is a convenience store that has some pretty fire pizza and other hot food at 5th & Broadway across the street from 2 well known pharmacies. There’s also a Carl’s JR 2 blocks south at 7th & Broadway. There’s a 7 Eleven at 7th & Figueroa we highly recommend you avoid because the food is usually stale and the owner has a horrible attitude. There’s another location on 7th & Olive as well as Olympic & Grand if you need to hit one up that are much more customer service oriented. The Library is also located 2 blocks west of Pershing Square if you happen to need their resources and there is a Target on 8th & Fig on the way up to Staples Center if you happen to need anything there.

LA has been seeming to cut off hard alcohol sales in the downtown vicinity lately. If you go to 8th & Broadway you can find some of the cheapest beer in the area however right at Chapman Market and those guys are hella cool over there. There is also a Ralph’s grocery store not too far from there on 9th & Hope next to Grand Hope Park which is a more quiet park on a college campus. For decent shopping on shoes, clothing and many other needs we recommend taking the red or purple line train one stop away from 7th Street Metro Center to Westlake/McArthur Park station. The street vendors and small shops in the area always have high quality products for great deals you won’t find anywhere else in the city.

Longbeach has turned into a more high scale fancy place that is trying to bring in more yuppie culture. Venice however is an awesome place that also has many vendors on the boardwalk selling art and many other goods. If you are looking for herb we generally go out there because dispensaries now have jacked up prices all over since the Feds shut down all the good spots. Go talk to a hippie or a street kid on the beach and you’ll be way better off. Use good judgment conducting business on the street out there because local gangs all over LA are known for jumping people and taking all their possessions, Venice especially. Our homies at The Trading Post on Main Street are good people and have the best prices within a mile of the boardwalk. We also have a homie from Brazil there who calls himself “Dennis From Venice” and he’s an artist who paints up cycled skateboards and sells his work on the boardwalk. You can find him over at Westminster & Boardwalk. His work is a must see and he has even been featured on television stations such as The Travel Channel.

Santa Monica is also a cool spot to visit on the pier. They have rides, games and all sorts of different food. People are usually fishing off the pier and rocks in the area. Other good hot spots are Jim Morrison’s House in West Hollywood as well as his hotel room a couple miles down the road that has artwork all over the walls untouched since his last stay. The Museum of Death is located on Hollywood Blvd near the Vine Station. Another spot we hear is cool is Rainbow Club. Hollywood Bowl Park picnic area is also a really cool spot that’s peaceful when there’s not a lot of concerts going on there.

If you’re looking for cheap places to stay that are clean you should check out the hostels there. Melrose Hostel is one of the best spots in the city and usually only costs $20 to $30. Definitely be weary of other places out there as they can be very prone to pests like bed bugs and cock roaches.

If you find yourself stuck in LA and needing work there are always many openings with movie extra gigs and other things. You just need to do research and talk to the right people.

Please enjoy Los Angeles while you’re there Juggalos and leave a good impression on our people out there!
