Daniel Dahmer sits down for an exclusive interview with ROX-TV

I’d like to welcome back the readers to ROX-TV for a special interview tonight with Daniel Dahmer “The Trap Gramma”. As always, we enjoy having indie artists sit down with us to chop it up. I was recently turned onto Daniel Dahmer’s music by listening to a track called “Trick R Treat” on YouTube. I was instantly won over by hearing that wonderful Halloween movie sample and dope beats. I’m a lifelong Michigan resident and that dark and wicked sound reminds me of the most magical time of year….fucking Halloween. The skies grow dark, the wind picks up, the leaves pile up in the yard or blow down the lonely streets at night. The flickers of the streetlights and the chill in the air. Hands down….my favorite time in the Murder Mitten. I got intrigued by the music I started to find out there and decided to see if he would be willing to come in and sit down for an interview. Lucky for us….he said yes.

Welcome to ROX-TV and thank you for taking the time to speak with us today. For the record and for our readers who might be digging on you for the first time, what city or area do you represent? Any affiliates?

Check out Terrorvision by Daniel Dahmer now. It’s got that dope ass Murder Mitten Halloween vibe. We play it year round here. From the 810 to the 313.

It’s my pleasure to talk with you. I appreciate you reaching out to me. It truly means a lot. I’m proud to represent Michigan as a whole I’ve lived here a good majority of my life. As of right now, I stay in the Redford area and before that I was staying on the West side of Detroit which also happens to be one of the places I bounced between growing up as a kid. So I guess to answer the question I represent both Detroit and Redford lol.

In your own words, who is Daniel Dahmer? And what is the music all about?

To me Daniel Dahmer is a cartoon character that you would find on shows like Beavis and Butthead or South Park. I like to play the role of a Heel (Wrestling term). To some I am entertaining, but to others I’m that annoying turd that just won’t flush and I won’t go away… like herpes! As for the music either you get it or your lost in the sauce and don’t get it, but to me, this is ART and I love to create it.

Now that we know a little bit about who you are and where you come from, I’d like to ease into an area that I enjoy asking all artists that come with us. I am always curious when music becomes an important part of a persons life, especially when that person goes onto becoming an artist/creator of music himself. Can you tell us when music became “important” to you and perhaps what group/artist/song or other factors contributed to that?

Music has always been apart of my life. I remember the early 90s sneaking and listening to my mom’s tapes like Eazy E, Too Short and 2 live crew and I was addicted to them. They all have a huge role in my vulgar-ness that I use on some of my songs, but I remember the 1st time I heard ICP and that changed everything for me. I remember the teenager across the hall in our apartment building showed me Beverly Kills and around 11 I got my hands on a Riddlebox tape which opened the doors for me, to hear many more dope Detroit rappers.

Daniel Dahmer is on the scene and ready to burn the city down in 2021. Go check out his videos and music today.

We celebrate the indie artist at ROX-TV and enjoy giving artists a platform to self promote their music. Can you tell the readers where they can find or purchase your music? What’s available at the moment?

You can find my music on every digital outlet or www.danieldahmer.bandcamp.com but soon we will have a relaunch on my official website danieldahmer.com. I’ve released probably over 50 projects in the past 10 years my last full album was Slime City followed by the Street Trash EP in 2019.

Where can I get a copy of that “Trick R Treat” song on cassette? Or at least a hard copy? I’m from the old school and still play records, tapes, and cd’s. Digital is alright but I’m stuck in the 90’s. I’m like the Rip Van Winkle of music fans.

You know I always like to press up hard copies of my releases because I also enjoy collecting things like CDs, but for some reason I didn’t get to press that one up. I was thinking maybe this year I’ll release it as a hard copy with a DVD as a visual EP. That song is available on the TERRORVISION EP which is also on all outlets

Daniel Dahmer has got some big things coming down the line. Keep an eye out for this cat. He’s making moves.

From a Michigan stand point….who would you say are some of your biggest influences?

I have quite a few Influences but to name a few we’ll say Lil B The BASED GOD, Kool Keith, ICP, Bizarre from D12,Three 6 Mafia, Esham, Master P, Eazy E,2 Live Crew and Marilyn Manson.

Does Daniel Dahmer got any new projects in the works or collabs coming in the new future? If so, please let the readers know, so we can keep an eye out for you.

I’m actually finishing up my new album Trap Gramma 2021:Trap to the Future as we speak. This album holds a special place in my heart because I got a bunch of artist I look up to musically involved. I got collabs with Gangsta Boo and Crunchy Black of Three 6 Mafia, La Chat, Lil Flip, Lil B The BASED GOD and Gucci Mane. We are looking to drop this in April.

If you had one chance to introduce your music to a total stranger, what two songs would you recommend they go listen to after reading this interview?

Daniel Dahmer trying on some new murder gloves in a neighborhood near you.

This is kind of a hard one just because I have recorded so much music in so many different styles lol. I got a song called “Turnt Gramma house into a Strip club” on the new album which is probably my favorite song I have done up until this point. Yung Jeffery is another popular one.

What does the rest of 2021 and beyond hold for you and your music? Hopes/dreams/Wishes fucking whatever?

In 2021, the plan is to drop my new album and focus on promoting that everywhere. As much as possible. Doing as many music videos as I can and going harder than any previous year. I always seem to drop a album then start right away working on a new one, without pushing it to its full potential. So we are gonna do this one different.

Who are you listening to today? I always wonder who the artists are listening to….I find it intriguing.

I listen to a lot of MGMT, Poppy, Marilyn Manson, Project Pat and Three 6 Mafia. I have a very wide variety of music I enjoy.

Shout outs: I’m from the 90’s and believe in the shout out. Please tell the readers at ROX-TV, who your shouting out? (anyone, anything)

S/O to you and ROX-TV for reaching out to me, my family, my homie Tre LB For putting up with me and some of the music he’s recorded for me thru the years lol, Idzilleagle for always supplying me dope graphics and bringing my vision to life in its full potential, my supporters who have continued to support me, the homies Gangsta Boo, Crunchy Black and Lil B for being super down to earth humble ass real ones and YOU! for taking the time to read this. Much love ya’ll!

I’d like to thank Daniel Dahmer for coming to sit down with ROX-TV. We are always grateful when artists stop by to talk with us and as always, we appreciate it. Until next time…..
