The ROX-TV Morning Five: News from the Underground and Beyond
Good morning and welcome back to ROX-TV. Today on the “Morning Five” I’m going to talk about a couple of recent events that kicked off and some on the way. Whenever we get word from the streets about interesting items, we will give you the rundown. We have a few items to talk about so lets get to it….
#1 Rude Boy hits the airwaves in Canada
Cruisin The Barrio’s own Rude Boy was a guest on the Canada’s award winning hip hop and rap radio station, the one and only 97.7FM Outlaw Radio, hosted by my homie DJ Immortal. The show went down at 8:30pm and was pretty dope. The Rude Boy was bursting with news about his new book that is currently in the works and his role as the executive producer at IBW. For the Juggalo’s out there, he talked about his career and growing up with the most famous clownz in town, the Insane Clown Posse.

During the interesting interview, the Rude Boy was asked some questions about a couple of funny exchanges and moments at a Rap Industry Convention held down in Florida. To hear about the history always makes me excited, so I was enjoying the interview. There was also some unfortunate news, with the untimely passing of Royce “The Bug” Carney, a beloved friend of Rudy’s and also a legendary member of the Detroit wrestling world.
The Rude Boy talked about a benefit event coming up on May 2nd at the Jefferson Event Center in Trenton, with proceeds from the show to go to the family of the dearly departed “The Bug”. Before his passing, Royce Carney was interviewed for the upcoming memoir, so his words will live on. The world lost a kind soul with the passing of Royce and we extend our deepest condolences again to his friends and family.
Rudy reflected on his career and how he managed to reach some pretty amazing heights. “It’s just about having the drive….I still have drive….I’m not done”. It’s exciting to see what the future holds for this true G from Southwest Detroit. We will continue to bring the readers news on big moves from Rudy as they come in. Stay tuned. You can catch him on Cruisin The Barrio internet radio at CRB every Friday night with A.T. Huck, Lady T, Eric the Prodigy, and DJ Carlito. As Rudy puts its “we’re not here for a long time….we’re here for a good time, be good to one another, take care of one another”.
#2 INFUSED FEST is going down at the Squeeze Station

I’ve just received word that the “Infused Fest” 420 Festivities is going down at Detroit’s own “Michigan’s Squeeze Station” located at 6716 Michigan Avenue in Detroit. The event will a 420 friendly event, and I think everyone knows exactly what that means! It’s time to get together and have some fun.
Masks will be provided, along with some dope music from the one and only Prince of the Southwest, Cruisin The Barrio’s very own DJ Carlito! ROX-TV will be on hand to take in the festivities first hand, and maybe some second hand smoke too. What better way to spend Sunday than with good people, good smoke, dope music, and everything in between. “Don’t be a square, be there”.
For more information please see the flyer or visit them on Facebook. The clock is ticking and the event is closing in. Sounds like a great time for chilling in the “D” to me.
#3 IBW drops more episodes of the amazing “Big Time Memories”
IBW is seeing a great response from wrestling fans, tuning into the amazing series known as “Big Time Memories”. This is a very unique series and it is something that old school “traditional” fans of the sport will go crazy for. Hosted by IBW Hall of Famer’s Terry Sullivan and “Super Mouth” Dave Drasen. There have already been some huge episodes featuring the infamous Sheik, the legendary Bobo Brazil, and Terry Funk just to name a few.

The programming features stunning photos from the era, that captures the very essence of those high flying times. Each episode comes neatly packaged and ready to entertain, delivering everything you need and nothing you don’t. Most episodes run somewhere around sixteen to thirty five minutes and are perfectly crafted for the fans who hold the sport so dear to their hearts.
Don’t miss the new content that is coming soon and be sure to catch up on the series premieres that have already dropped. IBW is the home of that classic old school wrestling, where “tradition still matters”.
#4 DJ Carlito joins DJ Immortal on 97.7 FM for a fresh interview
Last night DJ Carlito was interviewed by DJ Immortal on Canada’s number one uncensored hip hop and rap radio show on 97.7 FM. Over the course of the interview, DJ Carlito talked about his boxing career from his younger years. He had an amazing run with an impressive record of 34 wins and six losses, before suffering a career ending injury to his hand, DJ Carlito had won golden gloves tournaments and offers to turn pro. The ultimate goal was to box in the Olympics, but the injury changed the course of history and sent DJ Carlito into the music industry as well the wrestling world.

DJ Carlito’s come up included working at Psychopathic Records and even going on tour with the Clownz over the years. Eventually he founded IBW with his father, the one and only Rude Boy, and together they built a family owned company founded on pride, respect, and traditional values of the past.
DJ Carlito has been pretty busy and shows no signs of slowing down. Whether its with live events at the Michigan Squeeze Station, IBW Wrestling, or other projects, the homie from Southwest is grinding hard. Keep an eye out for this guy, he’s on the move.
#5 Song to check out: Dan Deacon “When I was done dying”-Off the Air-Adult Swim
Sometimes there is a song that hits you like a ton of bricks and stops you dead in your tracks. I admit, it happens to me on occasion, maybe not as often as I’d like but when it does I will halt and take notice. Really good music that touches the soul is easily identified because it will make the hairs stand up on your arms, it will make your head go white, and literally becomes a full body experience. I believe that everyone has this in them, unfortunately many people have lost the “ability” or the will to get excited about music. This is a shame and should be turned around as soon as possible. Music is food for the mind and the soul. It needs to be consumed, in my opinion, almost on a daily basis.
So earlier in the year, I was living that “pandemic” life, with nothing really going on. It was mostly hours of fucking senseless TV, sprinkled in with a good find every now and again. At some point I got turned onto a series called “Dark” by accident and have never been the same since. I’m not going to sit here explain the series blow by blow, although it might be an interesting read. No…today I’m only going to tell you that I have seen a show that has forced me to re-examine how I perceive time, what it does to us, and how time actually works. There have been points in my life when I was pretty sure I knew what was going on, until one day, just like getting hit with a fire song, something comes along to shake things up. I’m not saying the content is true or false, I’m simply saying that the series made me re-evaluate things that I haven’t paid much thought too if ever.
I must warn the readers that the concept is mind blowing at first, and how they managed to pull off the writing for this show was truly an amazing feat. I watched the entire series in about four days, and then when I was finished, I started over again. Trying to absorb everything I could from this show and its version of reality. The events in the show are obviously fictional, but poses a view on the past, present, and future that I’ve never encountered really.
As for the song and video, I will say this. As a supporter of Nitrous Oxide in general, I’ve never watched a video that seemed to capture my actual nitrous oxide trip in visual form. At least that’s my summary view of what is going on. I suppose people can see anything they want, when they look at something from their point of view. Well, in my bizarre world, this is my mind locked into a NOS binge. It captures the thoughts, ideas, and feelings in visual form and I give it my seal of drug approval. I don’t advocate drug use (hard drugs anyway) and I’m not telling anyone to run out and grab tanks and balloons. I’m just saying I had an encounter and something stuck. Go check out the series “Dark” on Netflix and dig on the video and song by Daniel Deacon. Although its a few years old at this point, its the type of thing that really is timeless.
Well that about does it for the moment. Keep checking back with ROX-TV periodically for interesting material and unique items that other sites might not be hip too. Until next time….
