The IBW’s Sunday Super Slam is fast approaching. Don’t miss the title defense match on May 2nd, 2021
Welcome back to the ROX-TV website for another update on the upcoming IBW wrestling event going down at the Jefferson Event Center, on May 2nd. I’m receiving early reports that there is an exciting development on the horizon. All indications point to a championship belt defense, the first of its kind in an IBW ring. The news just came across my desk and this is the most up to date information I have on the matter:
“The current Midwest Champion MM3 Malcolm Monroe III will defend the championship for the 1st time in an International Big Time Wrestling ring on May 2nd. The XICW and the IBW have come to an agreement that will allow IBW to recognize the championship. The Midwest title has roots that go back to the early 1980’s. MM3’s grand father and DBA’s father held the title for many years. Recent champions have included Buff Bagwell, Jimmy Jacobs, Jaimy Coxxx, Alex Shelley, Rhino, Shannon Moore and Rock Star Spud among others”.

With the exciting news and big time action on the way. We’ve decided to add a little something extra for wrestling fans who just can’t get enough throwback history. Today, included with the newsflash is a nod back to the 2007 attempt to unify the “Midwest Title Recognition”. A.T. Huck provided this 2007 program to help explain some back history on the way things used to be in regards to the Midwest Championship
“The Midwest title recognition”
(Story excerpt from 2007 IWF Promotion Program)
Once upon a time there was one champion. He defended his belt in any promotion that could meet championship standards. He would take on the number one contender in any given promotion or “go around the horn” with a big draw challenger. Money was made all around. They called it the NWA.
Over ten years ago I brought up such a regional championship. I spoke to A.T. Huck and the Legend himself “Sweet Daddy” Malcolm Monroe, but the timing couldn’t have been worse. Egos were out of control, and there were literally dozen of promotions, each with hot lines trying to snag the wrestling fan.

There was no consistency from promotion to promotion. Perhaps the time has come. Tonight two young men with great futures, C.J. Otis the current champion Conrad Kennedy III, the former champion will clash over the Midwest Heavyweight Championship. This is the first time the title will be defended in the IWF.
The IWF was once called ICW and when A.T. Huck and Fanatic Frank parted ways with the late Malcolm Monroe, they stopped recognition of the title and changed the name of the promotion.
“Sweet Daddy” Malcolm Monroe won the title in the late seventies, defending it against the likes of Bo Bo Brazil, The Sheik, Luis Martinez, George Steel and the Junkyard Dog just to name a few. The “Sweet Daddy” held it until the early nineties, finally losing to Butch Reed. Pictured above and left (now due right) are some of the former Midwest Heavyweight Champions.
The Midwest championship was later revived in XICW. Now not only will the Midwest Title be defended in the IWF and IXCW, it is also defended in Pro Wrestling All Stars, Wolverine Pro, Metro Pro, Independent Wrestling Revolution, Price of Glory and others soon joining the Midwest Wrestling Federation. The Midwest Wrestling Federation is a name adopted by IWF promoter A.T. Huck to govern the championship. Hopefully this is a concept that will catch on fire and gain recognition through out the state and even the whole Midwest. I think its a great start. Tell your friends about tonight and bring two with you next time.
“The story from this program was from my promotion, the IWF, published in 2007. It was an attempt to have the title recognized in promotions around the state. It didn’t last long to say the least”
A.T. Huck
