New Jersey’s own 9 Dead stops by the ROX-TV universe to cut it up about their music, background, and much more.
Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. We have some very special guests rolling with us tonight and I can’t wait to get into this one. We strive to give the indie scene a place to be showcased and heard, and are always happy when we get visitors who kick ass. Well my friends…tonight we got some heavy cats here to cut it up with us, so without further to do….lets get to it. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give to you the 9 Dead…
Before we get into the weeds, can you tell the readers what area the 9 Dead is repping?
We are all from different parts of Southern NJ.
For the first time readers and people who are just getting turned onto your music for the first time, how did the group form up?
The band formed during 2020 with members Stauffer, Kopfle, and Boldizar writing mid summer to then bring vocalist Caleb into the mix.

This question can be for anyone in the group that want’s to answer it. I enjoy talking to artists and groups about their own personal histories with music. For anyone who wants to answer or all, can you remember back when you were young….at what point did to you first become aware of music as something you liked as opposed to maybe something your parents listened to? That moment of awareness, where you were like “I dig that sound” type of thing. If you can remember what the song or group was that started it all for you?
All of us have been around music since we were young, for Stauffer it was hearing Korn and going “That’s it, that’s what i wanna do”. Then for Caleb it was hearing Slipknot’s self titled record for the first time.
Once you guys became aware of the music as fans, how long did it take before you were like “that’s what I want to do” and began creating music as opposed to just listening to it?

For Kopfle, it was hearing Joey Jordison on “Disasterpiece” that made him wanna play drums. Stauffer, Boldizar, and Kopfle have been on and off making music together for the past 15 years giving them effortless chemistry when writing. For them playing music with each other is their driving force.
For the readers just getting introduced to your body of work, what was the first song you guys ever put together? What was that process like?
The first song collectively written as 9 Dead was Tortured. The process was seamless once everyone was in the same room together, grinding several days a week to perfect the song and to continue on. We don’t really move on until a song is tight from front to back.
Where can the readers find your albums or tracks for purchase?
We are on all streaming platforms, Spotify, Apple Music etc etc, if you’d like to find us an easy search of 9 Dead will bring you to our music.

You guys just played the Gathering of the Juggalos. How did that all come about as far as getting on the concert lineup? Any ICP fans in the group?
We were honored to be accepted onto The Gathering lineup, it was an amazing experience for us all. And Caleb is a huge ICP fan so this experience was very special for him.
The GOTJ21 was a great show. The Juggalos can be a wild bunch at times. Did you get a chance to mix it up with the Juggalos while you were in town? Any impressions or takeaways about the scene?
We were overwhelmed at the response we received from everyone, from signing autographs at our merch tent to walking around and being complimented and thanked on playing The Gathering.
Can you tell the readers if you can…any new projects that you guy’s are working on at the moment? Any tease out of upcoming news?

We are currently finishing the album, that is our #1 priority at the moment. As for shows we are playing in Mays Landing NJ at The Watering Hole on the 25th of September. After that we are playing a fest in Jersey that hasn’t been announced yet so keep an eye out for that announcement on our social media platforms.
The last year or so has been tough for the music scene when combating the pandemic bullshit. How has the time affected you as a group personally? I know some artists that used the time to get creative and crank out new material. I guess you could say “making the best out of a bad situation” or some shit like that. Aside from hindering live performances, was the shut downs a net positive or a negative in your eyes for music creation?
The pandemic drove us to work harder and overall it’s what drove us to form the band to begin with.
Anything else you want to talk about or add?
Make sure to follow us on our social media platforms to stay in touch with what we have going on. Instagram is about the best way of doing so and you can find us there @9Dead_Official
I’m from the 90’s and I used to dig the shout outs. This is the time, so let me know who you guys are shouting out tonight?
Shout out Oma and Stauffer’s fiancé Elise, Caleb’s Dad girlfriend and Gma, Boldis Dad, Gmom and little Eric.
Well there you have it. 9 Dead is the name and nuclear heavy is how they are rolling. Check them out today if you fuck around with the “hard as a coffin nail” music. These guys will level your house and make your ear drums bleed (in a good way). It was great having them on and we wish them the best. That’s all the time we have tonight. Until next time….
Signing Off,
