Your Underground Source

ROX-TV drifts into the happy field of smoke. Tonight we review strains for Sugar Black Rose, Pinny P, and Gorilla Glue. Also looking at Kool-Aid and THC Drops as well.

Welcome back to a special edition of the ROX-TV smoke review. Tonight, we have decided to dip into the sweet field of dreams and pick some flowers. Among the chosen ones we have “Sugar Black Rose”, a wonderful sack of “Pinny P” (aka Pinconning Paralyzer), and a heavy weight contender “Gorilla Glue”. Not to be outclassed by the flower department, we also have a decent showing from a THC dropper set and a couple bottles of good time Kool-Aid. It’s going to be a tough assignment, wading through the smoke and fire but I’m feeling up to the challenge. Pull up a chair, break out the wraps, twist that grinder…whatever you need to do to enjoy the ride. This is what happened…

The plan comes together

So lately I’ve been trying to get back to nature and one of the ways I do that is by going “green”. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, I’ve decided to get a stronger stone vibe going and the only way to do that is to immerse myself into the comfy meadows of the smoke. I’ve been there before and was once permanently parked there for seven years or so. I eased off the throttle and drifted back into trouble town for a little while, but it’s time to climb aboard the Green Dragon once again. It’s better for me, more manageable, and after the body gets re-acquainted…can be a rather enjoyable ride. (Author’s Note: I received my Medical Marijauna Card back in 2014 for PTSD and associated issues with health)

So, in the name of peace and harmony, I took a little drive down to the G3C (aka Genesee County Compassion Club) to see what was going on. I really love this place because it offers the very best in medical marijuana products, the people and staff are both friendly and knowledgeable, the spot is rather dope, and above all else because they’ve earned my trust. How did they do that? By delivering good quality, fair pricing, and consistency for the last five years or so that I’ve been going there.

To be honest, once I learned about the G3C and had a chance to shop there, I never went to another “dispo” again. In the earlier years of the program, places would burn medical card holders with absolutely outrageous pricing, shitty product quality, and frequent shortages. It was not un-common to pay thirty dollars for a good gram of smoke in 2014. I won’t mention the names of these places in Genesee County, but I will say that most of them didn’t last but a couple of years. If you have lousy gear and greed-head pricing, as soon as the people can find a better place to go, they will. I sure as hell did.

For people that really know me, I’ve suffered with alcoholism for a long time. It comes and goes over the years, and the only thing that I’ve ever really known to assist in that battle is the Green Lady. You could always dabble in a little Nitrous for a similar route out of the bottle, but the costs can be sky high and availability depends on your resourcefulness. But this is a smoke article, and we will stick with those guidelines moving forward. I figured you would understand.

Most people don’t know but I wrote a book in 2017 chronicling the battle against alcoholism with medical marijuana. Anyone who might find themselves in a losing battle with the bottle should check it out. But I warn you, it’s not for the weekend warriors and six pack champions.

The book is for the people who failed at Rehab, AA, and Outpatient Services, in my case with flying colors. Normal treatments and existing norms did nothing for me and the medical marijuana program was my last hope. It worked, or at least saved my life. I still have issues from time to time, but without the help of medical marijuana, I might not be here today. To date, I have found nothing that works as well to fill the giant hole inside. I know this, I’m better with it than I am without it. The last year has been a little bumpy, so I decided to get back with nature big time.

The Journey Starts Again

After a home delivery visit from a good friend of mine, I got back on track. It took about a week to get my sea legs working (although I have a ways to go) and up to the G3C. The place was exactly the way I left it and just as inviting as ever. I made the rounds and caught up with some of friends. My homie FlintJuggalo810 met me at the bar inside and handed over a bad ass shirt from the Hallowicked Show at the Majestic along with a huge rollo packed with the finest flower. As we puffed away and I examined the shirt, we talked about the show and other Juggalo news. We were joined by Harry Areola, another homie from the club and owner of Cough Studios. We kicked around the rollo and talked about some upcoming projects with Cough Studios (a new episode of Shep in Depth will be coming in January as well as another project from Harry and Chase).

It was good to be there, and I was glad that I made it. The shirt was dope and will be joining the rest of my collection. It may turn up in a Merch “best of the year” article in the coming days, but that is later. Back to the shopping, I hit my favorite vendors aka caregivers, for some flower and anything else that might catch my fancy.

After making a quick round on the floor, I picked up a half ounce of “Pinny P” aka Pinconning Paralyzer, a half ounce of “Sugar Black Rose”, a quarter ounce of “Gorilla Glue”, a bottle of THC drops, and a case of the magic Kool-Aid. The trip had been well worth it, and the price was more than right. (Author’s Note: I briefly worked in Lansing at a dispo and the amount of money people were willing to pay for smoke blew me away. We sold high end flower for as high as $65 dollars an eighth, and cheaper tiers as well. The products were amazing and almost unreal, but the price was steep. Pricing arguments could be made, but the quality was killer, so I leave that debate somewhere else)

I walked out of the building and pointed the car back home. I decided to drive through the city of Flint and see what was new. I eventually made my way to Richfield Road and headed south on Dort Highway. I drove by the ancient junk yards full of car skeletons, passed by the empty lots that once housed the AC factory my dad worked at, passed by the tired liquor stores, and noticed a lot more buildings from my past were no longer standing. The “titty bar strip” of Dort Highway didn’t fare much better, although some work was being done in the area. A lot of the businesses had closed in recent years, and it was a bummer.

When you’re a kid, you think places that you know and frequent will last forever, but they really don’t. In the last thirty years, much of the city that I remember from the 80’s and early 90’s has started to fade or disappear. At the rate things are going, eventually there won’t be much left that matches up with my memories of the city and that’s a bummer. I made my way down Dort Highway and cut over on Maple Avenue, eventually using Vanslyke and Hill to get to the highway. The sun was out, and I was ready to sample some new products in the safety of my own home.

Kool-Aid Test #333

I don’t actually keep numerical track of the testing. I guess you could consider the 333 to be more ornamental and symbolic. The Kool-Aid Test was ready to begin. I like to sip mine on ice although I have been known to drink the stuff warm. That’s when you know it’s good, when the temperature does nothing to diminish the ride. I got out my favorite glass, hit the ice machine, then turned the slow roll flood gates loose.

Like a slow drift into a foggy night, the Kool-Aid did its job. When I drink Kool-Aid it’s pretty much an all-day operation. The kind of jog you don’t mind taking. As a matter of fact, it’s the only jog I like to take.

I’ve never been much of a runner, although I once was able to do eight mile runs in my early twenties…today it would probably take me four to six weeks to run that far. These days if I can’t catch you in a hundred yards, you’re home free.

I think that first night, I drank four bottles of the magic elixir and felt just fine. I’m a huge fan of Kool-Aid and for the medical patients out there that either don’t like smoking flower or find it hard to do at times, this might be the delivery system you’ve been looking for. Especially first timers who may have never smoked flower before but are still looking for the medicinal benefits of the Green Mother.

THC DRIPS aka The Dropper

By day two, I was ready to go “further”. I decided to break out the dropper bottle and see if the “drips” were as effective as I remembered. I started slow and gradually picked up the pace. The drops are great for medicating on the run, when smoking isn’t an option and discrete is the name of the game. A quick dropper loaded up, a squeeze on the rubber top, and away it goes.

The label read “Medical Cannabis, Indica, 500mg” and came in a little brown bottle. Perfect for tossing in a pocket or jacket before heading out the door. The drops are similar to the effects of the Kool-Aid and are easily regulated. Take some, if it doesn’t do what it needs to…take some more. It’s simple really and is a club favorite for me, every time I can track it down.

I recommend this type of product for people having trouble getting to sleep, suffering from anxiety, depression, pain, and much more. In the early days of the medical marijuana program, I would keep journals on the strains and products I consumed for my own knowledge, and I would suggest this to anyone getting into the program for the first time. Some strains work better for your particular needs than others, and when you find a combination that works or a strain that helps, write it down. It’s a great way to keep strains straight, chart your progress, and a tool. Don’t be afraid to bust out a journal.

Sugar Black Rose Strain

I broke out the “Sugar Black Rose” first. I admired the perfectly dried nuggets, which were firm and solid to the touch. The trichomes coated the nuggets which is always a good thing. Some of the weed we scored in the 90’s was real shaky and I don’t miss the smoke that takes deliberation or the kind where you have to search out the high. I’m happy to see that those days are gone, hopefully forever at the rate people are farming these days. No more brick weed dosed in Ammonia from south of the border. It used to happen once in a while, and decent weed was in high demand and low supply. The marijuana floating around the GM factories was dynamite, but you needed a source. Those sources were harder to come by when a person was fifteen and holding onto a whooping twenty bucks.

People under twenty-five have no idea how frustrating and unreliable the street markets were from time to time in the new “old” days. We have it pretty good in Michigan and with the tide of public support getting behind the magic plant, hopefully it stays that way. The government will always try to find ways to curb the markets outside of the shops but it’s probably too late now. The skill sets are being acquired and applied by everyday people and it makes me smile.

The Sugar Black Rose smelled like real flowers to me, with a pleasant fragrance. I pulled out a few chunks and tossed them in the old gas station grinder. Within seconds I had a nice little pile staring back at me. There was nothing left to do but smoke it, so that’s exactly what I did. The smoke was smooth and enjoyable, putting me at ease but not so much that I was glued to the couch. It seemed to pack the right punch with manners and that works for me. I would recommend this strain to people who have activities that need to be accomplished, that are simple enough for the mind to be free. Housework falls in this category with items like dishes, mowing the grass, laundry, and picking up around the house. It would also come in handy for minor aches and pains, and for stress issues as well.

Pinny P aka Pinconning Paralyzer

I know I’ve written about this strain before and there is a rather long-winded story behind it. Today I’m opting for the twenty second version. While coming home from Northern Michigan, I stopped into Meat Shop in Pinconning for some hard salami, jerky, and maple syrup.

The lady behind the counter mentioned the “Pinconning Paralyzer” during the check out and peaked my interest. A little time passed and the next time I went into the G3C, I ran into a guy that had a giant jar of the Pinconning Legend. After the hype from the meat lady, I picked up an ounce and have been a fan ever since.

I paired the weed up with a Nintendo game in my Amazon release of “Be Kind, Rewind”. The book was about some of my favorite Nintendo classics paired up with some of my favorite strains at the time. I would burn down and then play the games on my Nintendo, which still works till this very day. More often than not I would also add music that went “well” with the strains and the game.

Overall, the book is pretty interesting and if you enjoy marijuana, Nintendo, and good music…it might be the ticket for you. The Pinny P half ounce was mostly smaller sized nugs.

I’m not sure if this is standard for the strain, but I will say in the last couple years of picking up Pinny P, the nugs are usually smaller. When I grew weed for a couple of years, some strains just didn’t produce those massive bud sizes, so I understand if they tend to run smaller compared to for example Maui Waui.

The flower has a nice earthly smell, or at least that’s how I would describe it. You could stash a bag in your pocket without letting everyone in the room know about it. Next came the breakup.

The pile looked nice and smelled excellent. My favorite type of execution is with joints, so I put together a few rollos and started puffing away. Dinner needed to be put together, so I killed two birds with one stone. The stone/high came creeping up.

I started to feel the vibe before I hit the halfway point and that is a good sign. I used to rank my joint experiences by quarters. If I could burn a 1/4 of the joint and be feeling good, the flower was top notch in my book. Obviously with each quarter increase, the wow factor comes down a bit.

This scale also depends on your current tolerance level. Since mine is rather small time at the moment, a decent sized joint got me humming. This one is just north of the middle of the road, and I found that doing things around the crib were not hampered at all. There’s a nice function with this strain and it hits all the right places. A little body, a little head shot, and the volume just got turned down in the room. This would make a great travel companion for people who suffer from pain or anxiety. If you’re a recreational fan, smoke it just because. It’s nice, the only problem is that you might have trouble tracking down the Pinny P if you don’t go to the G3c (Genesee County Compassion Club) or the town of Pinconning. If you’ve never heard about the strain, apparently, it’s been a local legend up there for a very long time. They made me a believer.

(I returned to the sweet Pinny P after dinner for a little more indulgence. I’m still in awe of the punch this strain packs with each additional use. I turned on the tunes so it must have been hitting just right. Some songs hit when the smoke is in the air. I buzzed a couple jams and managed to get away from YouTube without losing the whole night. But writing further became difficult in a good way)

To be continued…
