Your Underground Source

ROX-TV chops it up with our Detroit homie IZZ2Nice. We talk about his latest EP release, coming plans, and much more. Check it out now!

Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. It’s been a minute since we last talked. Could you tell the readers what is new in your world?

“Horror Movies” EP out now and “Horror Movies 2” coming next Friday the 13th.  You know I stay on my Hood Horror shit.

Let’s talk about your recent drop, the Horror Movies EP. You know me, I’m a huge fan of the horror genre and I think its dope that you are taking the music to that level. For the readers just learning about your music or the new EP “Horror Movies”, could you kind of walk us through the EP? Obviously, the concepts are horror based, but could you talk about some of the songs featured?

IZZ2Nice dropping some lyrics on the stage. Check out his latest release “Horror Movies” today and hear that hood horror!

Two of my favorites are “Run From Me” and “Hack Em Up”.  I wrote those 2 songs together with a Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers themed concept on some hood slasher type shit you know… I love horror movies to the point I want to write my own horror movie but keep it hood-hood horror to be exact lol. I put acting skits before songs to give the listeners that horror movie feel…to build suspense.

How long did it take to complete the Horror Movies EP? What was it like in the studio this time around?

It didn’t take long… it just took planning. I got beats from Rich Rhoades and my brother Sam the Bassman. My friend Scantless helped out a lot with the mixing and production…the creative input and verses on this project. Rich Rhoades helped out with the mixing, and he did the hook on “Red Rum”. I had to stay in horror mode 24-7 while working on this EP. The studio sessions are always private and chill so I can stay focused…

Now that shows are starting to take place without restrictions, are you planning on making any appearances in the near future?

I’m definitely doing something for Halloween 🎃 I have been doing a bunch of shows all this year to support the new drops.

With this new EP out for the world to hear, are you working on any new material? I’m assuming as an artist, you’re always on the grind…

Yes, Horror Movies 2 which is another six song EP… drops in January. Friday the 13th to be exact. I’m also working on Horror Movies 3 which will drop in October…Friday the 13th, 2023. That release will be a six song EP… which will be the last of the Horror Movies Series.

For the readers living outside of Michigan, could you talk a little bit about the underground scene in Detroit? What’s the state of the underground in your opinion?

It’s great, everybody bringing it. The scene is dropping heat and killing shows and spitting the illest flows! I love it especially my Killas…

Where can the readers check out your most recent work or purchase it? Do you have any videos up on YouTube right now or perhaps some in the works for the future?

YouTube, Spotify ,Apple Music etc… all streaming, just look up Izz2Nice.

If you could tell the readers who are just finding out about you…one thing that defines either your music or your grind…. what would that statement be?

Hood Horror!!!!!!

Before we wrap this interview up, I always give the artist a chance for shout outs. Who are you shouting out tonight?

I’ll  like to give a shout out to my Mom Georgia Hickman , the huggable lovable Cuddle Baby, Jennifer Kernyo AKA Jenn D and Crystal Simmons, my bro Sam The Bassman, my dawg/producer/DJ Scantless, my producer Rich Rhoades, my killas KDT, my Homegirl/independent model/artist Nickie Case, my Killa Jay Gutta, my sister Tinisha Brugnone, shout out my nigga Meechie Merdoc and the whole GFR Family ,shout out to my homie Justin Albert Smith, shout out to my nigga Black Magik and the whole Brimstone Lab and shout out to ROX-TV. He’s on the grind, making moves and doing the shit required to progress his craft. Support your local scene always and the artists that make it all happen. They are the lifeblood that keeps it all moving. Without music, we are truly fucked. So, check out Izz2Nice tonight! Until next time…
