ROX-TV’s smoke review is back for another episode. Tonight we get a sneak peek at “J-BOG” from our friends at Flower of Life. See what all the talk is about…

Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. As always, we would like to thank our returning readers. If this is your first time stopping by, we are glad that you made it. As you already know, ROX-TV is a smoke friendly place, and we fully support the recreational and medical Marijuana movement in the State of Michigan as well as around the country. I believe in the power of the green goddess and the unbelievable benefits both physically and spiritually from ingesting the magical flower. The plant literally saved my life back in 2013 while I was going through a rough patch, and I’ve been a staunch supporter ever since. (Author’s Note: I often times include music with these articles, and they usually are used to let the readers know about the type of vibe I’m in, or I think the songs properly link up with the times I may be having)

If you are new to Marijuana either recreationally or medically, I congratulate you on giving it a shot and encourage you to stay the course. In my experience over a lifetime, but more recently in the last ten years, I have found the plant to be one of the most versatile and interesting creatures on the planet. There are more strains (variations) available than I could ever list in an article and probably just as many that I have never heard of. Behind those strains though is the wonderful THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol: The principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis) that gets the rocket off the ground.

As any experienced smoker or consumer can tell you, the affects and characteristics of each strain can vary widely depending on what you’re doing and how. In the ancient times (1990’s) I started experimenting with the plant, through trial and error, raids on the roaches (marijuana cigarette butts), and coping from small time peddlers in and around school (I was living on the outskirts of Winchester Village in the S.C. during that time, located in the 810). Although I had smoked before, I brought one of my first “decent” joints in 9th grade from a guy I knew. It was five dollars, and we did the hand off near my locker. That fucking joint burnt a hole in my pocket and as soon as school let out it was on.

I hopped in a homie’s ride (a pretty non-descript Buick Century) and the party started. As we cruised around on side streets, I fired up the joint and started taking reasonable drags. My previous times smoking were pretty mellow, so I figured I’d swing for the fences. A short time later I came to, with the joint still in my hand although it had gone out. We had only been driving around for twenty minutes or so, but it felt like I had been somewhere else for a decade. That was one of the first real zingers for me and I never forgot it. Fast forward twenty-eight years almost to the month and here we are. I’ve covered a lot of ground since that time in 1994 and pushed life to the absolute limits during the journey. You could say I’ve slowed down quite a bit since the early and mid 2000’s, but every now and again….

So, with that small slice of background out of the way, we are now free to talk about the events that brought this article to life. There is a real dope company booming out of the Flint Town and the name of the company is called Flower of Life. I can relate to that name a lot, since the plant which inspired the name, did give me back my life. I’m sure there is a skeptic in the back somewhere, but that’s a true story and part of the reason I’m alive today, writing this fucking article.

The Flower of Life was founded by three brothers from Flint, who had a passion for the plant. Originally involved with the medical Marijuana movement in Michigan (which we refer to as a “Caregiver” status in Michigan) the brothers took their passion for cultivation to the next level. You could call them an indie company and I’m sure that fifty years from now, that will be the common name associated with up-and-coming independently owned and run cannabis companies of today.

Anyways, my friend (who happens to be one of the brothers of three) was kind enough to share a sample of their latest crop…the one and only “J-BOG”. Often referred to as “Jungle Boy OG” or “Curious George of the Jungle”, it’s one fine looking flower. Flower of Life was cool enough to include a few nice pictures with the sample, which I have added for your viewing pleasure. I enjoy clean and organically grown Cannabis the most and Flower of Life is bursting at the seams with it. So, without further to do, lets dive in and put the “J-BOG” through the paces.

Strain: J-BOG

Form: Flower

Method: Cone

Time: Forgot to look at clock

With flower, there isn’t much preparation involved. Simply roll up and apply the heat. The taste was absolutely wonderful, and the aroma quickly filled the room. The effects started coming on almost immediately and from my point of view, that’s a great sign. The taste was classic and yet, unique and dynamic. It was the kind of smoke that you notice at a party and want to find out more.

By the time the cone got down to the halfway point, I would say that I was definitely high. Stoned wouldn’t be a bad fit either. The strain felt like a decent mix of the Indica (can’t move) and Sativa (mind surfing) families. I was stoned and could feel those smoker eyes resting nicely inside my head. I was buzzing from head to toe (not the bad kind) and was just short of the “Animation” effects.

I would describe “Animation” effects as those times when a person is so high, the visible time and space perceptions are altered to the point that the speed of life slows down. It’s how I see and feel in those heavy moments, and everything visually becomes very interesting. The onset of “Animation” was around some at first, but after ten minutes the full wave of the body hum and vision hit. This was decent “Anime” and the cool thing was that I was able to keep typing this article in real time. That was interesting and I would use this strain to treat boredom, anxiety, depression, and ADD in adults. Recreation is also a winner.

Time Out

There came a point where I actually couldn’t type anymore, basically for the rest of time before I went to bed. I recently “re-set” with Marijuana because there was a time frame where I was consuming about an ounce every four to five days and it needed to be done. I took a very long break from THC and within a couple months, my tolerance completely started over. These days “less is more” is still very effective. I’m sure over time that will slowly change but for now, I’m getting maximum benefit from smaller amounts.

Sleep was full and restful, which I’ve always had a problem with. I slept for a full six hours without any interruption, which for me is like twenty hours to a regular person. I would recommend this for anyone with the same issues. This strain is very “kind” and I plan on securing some more in the future. For people just getting into Marijuana, I often recommend keeping a weed journal. This helps a person find what works and what fits the best, at least it did for me when I got serious about finding strains that were a nice pairing with what I was looking for.

Advice

If you like strains that hit in the middle of the road. That area between the head and body, than this is a great strain to get familiar with. It was my first experience with “J-BOG” but I can say with some authority that it will not be my last. If you’re in the 810, I would also recommend checking out the Flower of Life crew. I’ve been told that they have a store coming in the future and I will be in line when that happens.
