The ROX-TV Album Review is back. Tonight we will be looking at Chapter 17’s HEXXX and his newest drop “Demon Season”. A little music, some smoke, and much more…
Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. Tonight, we will be doing one of my favorite pieces all over again. That’s right, the Album Review is back for another round. We enjoy sampling and talking about our favorite music at ROX-TV, so keep coming back for the wide-ranging reviews. So anyway, as many of you know I am a serious HEXXX supporter. I think he has some major league talent, words to kill, and a unique sounding voice that really sets him apart from the rest of the Underground.
You really only need to hear fifty seconds or so of a HEXXX track and by then, you will be convinced. HEXXX is another dose of “fresh blood” that the Underground has been waiting for. Sometimes we have to wait awhile for something to come along and shake things up a bit. The time can seem to drag on forever but it’s always worth it in the end because eventually some new content will emerge that is a cut above.
HEXXX has been a rising name in the world of the Underground Music Scene and its well deserved. I’ve seen this guy perform and he never lets you down. Whether he’s playing a club or an event as big as the Gathering of the Juggalos, it’s the same energy every time. I have had the privilege of hanging out with this cat when he comes to Detroit. We’ve drank forties together in Southwest Detroit’s infamous Clark Park, talked music and ate great food in Mexicantown…and had time to really kick back and just rap about whatever.
He has a presence at events that really takes over the room, people are drawn to this cat and for good reason. A better Underground rapper today than HEXXX? I don’t think so. My money is on the G from California. The one that booms that West Coast Wicked Shit (W.C.W.S.) with all the swagger you would expect from LA and San Bernadino. If you’ve been following ROX-TV for the last year or two, you would know HEXXX is getting up in a serious way. I’m always glad to rap with this guy and he was even cool enough to kick over some words for the article tonight.
“I designed Demon Season to be a Summer banger for the underground and that’s exactly what it’s accomplishing. As of today, the album hit 126,000 Spotify streams, and that’s just 1 platform. To me, thats going JUGGALO GOLD. An Mike, you’re the only source I’m sharing with.. I’mma be dropping one more piece of Demon Season this month. Just when everyone thought that it was a wrap, I got one more surprise for y’all, something to finish D.S. off in style”.
– HEXXX
So, there you have it from the creator of the W.C.W.S. and the dope house banger “Demon Season”. If you haven’t heard it yet, well…act like you know and get a copy. Don’t be that one cat that missed the boat to the future. Get hip to the latest underground sounds and support the scene. So, without further to do, lets fire up some “Purple Haze” and visit the horror of the “Demon Season”.
Session #5 “Demon Season”
Artist: HEXXX
Genre: W.C.W.S. Underground
Label: Chapter 17
Released: 2022
Tracks: 10 (intro/interlude/songs)
Featuring: Project Born, Ouija Macc, Baldacci, DJ Chunk, DJ Stigmata
Produced: Devereaux, DJ Chunk, and Shaggy The Airhead
Intro:
The bells of doom are ringing in the distance. That wonderful old school voice distortion is dope and you know that you’re in for a ride. Some intros are cool and others I wished would last forever. This has one of those eternal sounds that could be looped for an hour while you were smoking.
Demon Season:
The journey gets going when Demon Season kicks in after the intro. The track has that “far away” lonely feeling going on or at least that’s what I think of as I listen to the haunting music. Alone in a field, twilight approaching, in the last days of Fall. These are the feelings this song provokes, along with some smoke for good measure. The end of this song is also a sound I wish I could extend another six minutes. HEXXX has the ability to rap in such a way that it conveys emotion and thoughts…. the whole feel and vibe of his world. I think that is a talent, many rappers envy. The effectiveness of the delivery of this song is Grade-A dope. Do I think HEXXX has breakout potential? Very much so. You heard it at ROX-TV first.
Big Time:
Oh shit, that Ini Kamoze “here comes the hot stepper” sample is a five-alarm fire. I’m nodding to the beat and the flows…polished and sharp. I can see HEXXX kicked back in a low rider in CALI when I hear this, lane to lane, sipping Modelo and puffing on a blunt. Pure CALI. I’ve been there, I know what I’m talking about. The flow exchange between HEXXX and Baldacci is great. A nice pass off, solid beats, great tempo. I dig this track (needs two 12’s for proper listening).
Ruthless:
Here is a track I know the Juggalos have been waiting for. A HEXXX video featuring (visual) that crazy cat from Sin City Ouija Macc. You could say this was a pretty solid flag planting moment as well, Chapter 17 letting everyone know they had arrived. The video on YouTube has been blowing up. I think it broke the Forty Thousand View mark a minute back and is steady climbing.
Cruise Night (Interlude):
It clocks in at twenty seconds or so, just a brief clip and still it has thousands of views. There are rappers out there that have trouble breaking nine hundred views with their best track on the album. I guess it goes to show you that even the snips can be a cut above when done correct.
Another Homicide:
By the name you already know what kind of music is headed your way. HEXXX and the songs he creates are so put together and correct in that CALI vibe, it’s an unmistakable sound that hip hop heads know well. The other tracks and this song scream W.C.W.S. so hard. A perfect blending of CALI and Detroit inspired styles and content. It pays homage to the world that Insane Clown Posse created, while maintaining a firm identity in that CALI hardcore barrio music. So far, not a bad moment on the album. I’m sure it was only going to get better though and listened on. Taking drags off the Purple Haze now and again. I mixed in some Russian Snow just for the hell of it. My eyes were as red as the sun. DJ Stigmata appeared on this track as well.
Villains:
Here is another burst of wickedness that has got the YouTube community responding in a big way. The song recently smashed the sixty-five thousand view mark and is still moving. We call that Juggalo Gold right there or at least I do. This track features C17’s top dog Ouija Macc. The homie from Scythe Gang 666 King Zabb shot the video. As always, he delivers. Within seven seconds of the video jumping off, the C17 and Psychopathic Records logos are present. The Royal Lineage. So, the joint is dope and video is too. If you like fine ladies, the video features some very nice visuals.
Pale Horse:
Before we even get started, I notice the time count on the YouTube track “Pale Horse” is exactly three minutes and thirty three seconds. 333. Now you know I’m a fan of that and readers will often encounter some numbers in my articles. They are there for a reason and they represent things that I value greatly. I see that number and my mind goes back to Hermes Trismegistus aka Mercurius ter Maximus/thrice great. I won’t say much more than that, look it up or don’t. Expand or shrink.
Sorry, back to the track. The time is right. This song also features the Flint Town Legends Project Born, whose status in the underground has been chiseled in stone for the last thirty some years. The track is introduced by Ouija Macc and makes way for HEXXX and PJB. The sample is one of the smartest horrorcore/underground rap samples in years. Phantasm is one of the greatest horror movies of all time, few people know about it these days and it is often blocked out by the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street franchises. I understand how it could happen, those two enduring series have earned their place in horror history, the only problem was they burned so bright, other movies from that time frame were completely over shadowed. I enjoy the samples by Underground artists from horror movies, I think it’s great…being a fan of both rap and scary movies. Anyway, it’s a dope sample and the artists deliver as well.
My association and feelings about Phantasm really make this track a personal favorite for me. I can’t believe no one fucked with it like this until now. It’s a third level deep dive with the best possible outcome. PJB does a good job on matching the sounds and vibe of HEXXX. Together this track reminds me of a late-night drive on dead city streets near two am. Maybe fifty or sixty degrees out. Cloudy night…at a time when all the dirt gets done. Late night solo driving, the loneliest time of the day.
Blood Drip:
This is a good track. I don’t have too much to kick in here. Running out of decent descriptors, probably due to the amount of Marijuana intake. A solid track, I like others better, but it’s a good one. Moving on.
CALI Dreamin:
Well, we’ve taken the ride out West to the land of G’s, where HEXXX is making his name known. The final track on the album, CALI Dreamin invokes the spirit of those very words.
“I’m just California Dreamin, in the city full of demons”
-HEXXX
Final Summation:

This is a perfect example of how to do it right and consistently. When you have the dopest beats, great features, and solid lyrics, you win every time. I’ve said before, perhaps the first to say that HEXXX was going to be one of the flag bearers of this Juggalo Culture going into the new era…I still believe that to be the case. The mark is being made in the tough stone. We are getting to witness the next chapter of this underground history being written in real time. Go buy the album, get hip to HEXXX because he’s going to be around a long time, doing what he does best…that MFKN West Coast Wicked Shit….the W.C.W.S is here. The R.L. continues in this thing of ours.
