ROX-TV gets an exclusive interview with Skitzo Michigan. We talk about the new book “Water From Cactus” which is available on Amazon tommorrow.
Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. As always, we welcome the returning readers. Without anyone to read these articles, there would be no point. So, thanks for coming back. That is extended to anyone stopping by for the first time. It’s pretty cool in here. Stick around. We have another exclusive interview tonight, with Skitzo Michigan. The man on a mission from the Murder Mitten. Kalamazoo to be exact. Skitzo has some pretty big news that he’s ready to blast out into the world. The man has written a book called “Water From Cactus” and it is the story of his life. That sounds pretty simple and straight forward, but I must warn you my friends…it’s really a story of survival set against a back drop of poverty, suffering, and abuse. One kid, put into impossible circumstances, and against all odds, managed to save his life with music and his grandmother’s love. It’s a heavy trip man, but those are usually the best kind. I often say the journey is the real prize, where the destination falls away. What you have left is the real gold and that is experience. Alchemy.
I really enjoy doing the interviews with artists, probably just as much as the actual concerts and live performances, because in the interviews, you get to really see how a person thinks, the things that are important to the individual, and everything else that a song cannot do in two minutes and twenty seconds. A good interview is like a window into someone’s heart and soul. I like well thought out ideas and six months to answer a question or write a poem. Even though I enjoy the controlled responses, there is nothing like speaking to someone in real life. Totally un-scripted and pure creation in every sense of the word. Thats the shit I dig. That spontaneous explosion of off the cuff comments and ideas. Fuck it if everything isn’t perfect, I just want to see that passion you know. Someone getting excited is real. Getting caught up in the moment and letting shit fly. Fuck perfection, it doesn’t exist for the most part. At least as far as humans are concerned. Ok, I think I’ve said enough about how I feel about things. Now it’s time to turn the floor over to our good friend Skitzo Michigan. I’ve got some questions and I think I’m going to get some great answers. Is everybody in? The play is about to begin…
Skitzo Michigan x ROX-TV
Exclusive Interview
July 27th, 2023
Michigan
.

Welcome back to the ROX-TV website. Oddly this might be the first actual interview for Skitzo on ROX-TV that I’ve worked on since joining the crew. Well…alot has happened since 2021. First and foremost, talk to the readers about that big book release. You got a book coming out? Talk to us…
Skitzo: Well, I teamed up with MonStar to do a joint venture, tour, and build something special. Finished a book with the homie Mike. I got a new album coming out, the first new album in a couple years. I promise not to make the #teamSkitzo wait that long ever again. The album will also feature the same title as the book. I have an EDM album scheduled for release before 2023 is over. Then there is the project with Fatty’s House, that will drop in 2024.
How did the concept for the book develop?
Skitzo: Honestly it was all Mike. I was intrigued by the book he did with Project Born. I read about 75% percent of the book, it was good and interesting, before I ran into the author at a festival in 2021. I mentioned the idea but didn’t think I was ready. Mike said “shit you ready fam”(laughter). Now I got an autobiography.
What is a long process, completing a book about your life? What was the experience like?
Skitzo: It wasn’t that long at all. We spent about a year working on it. We worked on it together…we wanted to put together a dope book. And with the help of Bob Roxxx, it turned out great. I’m very excited about it.
Did writing the book force you to deal with any tough memories or experiences?
Skitzo: I wouldn’t say tough exactly. I definitely address personal issues in my music. But with music, you can hide somewhat behind that beat. With a book, there is no hiding. In a book, there is no metaphor, it’s just straight to the point. As far as my family is concerned, I think there will be surprises within the book, both good and bad. But this is my story, seen through the eyes.
Without giving too much away here, what can the readers expect when they do buy the ticket and take the ride?
Skitzo: The readers should be ready for a side of Skitzo Michigan, that most artists are afraid to reveal. I did not hold anything back. I allowed myself to become vulnerable…for my readers to see. This is a true underdog story.
Can we expect any guest appearances in the book?
Skitzo: Oh man, there are lots of guest appearances in the book and the album. Too many to list here.
What are your hopes for this publication? Are you trying to change the status quo?

Skitzo: My hope it to do a book tour and inspire people to tell their stories no matter how dark they think it will be. I was afraid to tell my truth. But the process was so gratifying…it freed me. I’d like to keep doing books with Mike and Bob. The whole experience felt so natural.
I understand the book touches on some topics that the Juggalos love to read about. The underground, what you’ve done, and the artists you’ve worked with. I understand you’ve been performing for the better part of the last decade or so at the Gathering of the Juggalos annual festival. Is that exclusive or do you do different things at different times?
Skitzo: I think since 2011, there have only been three dates that I missed. I’m constantly on the grind and have been busy even when not seen. I’ve done national tours, shows, events, comic conventions…you name it. I’m taking my message to the people and to do that, you got to get moving.
You have a special friendship with Mastamind, the underground legend from Natas. Can you talk about the album you guys made?
Skitzo: That’s my Mr. Miyagee right there, if you’ve ever seen the Karate Kid. Then you will understand. There would be no “me” if not for him. I grew up on his bars, his word play…and now…I can call him a brother. It’s amazing. He really saw the potential in me when no one else gave me a shot. He took me on a tour and taught me so much…
Well, the book drop is getting awfully close. Can you tell the readers when “Zero Hour” hits officially?
Skitzo: The book drops on July 28th, 2023. The album will be shortly after that.
Any special signed copies or flyers coming out?
Skitzo: Oh yes, flyers and posters. I will be signing them for fans that order directly from me or the MonStar store.
Well, we’ve come to the end of this interview. As is customary and in line with tradition, we commence with the shout outs. Who is Skitzo Michigan shouting out today?
Skitzo: Shouts out to all my Juggalo family and to all my MonStar brothers! Shout out to my bro James. Shout out to the Lake Effect Dispensary.
Well, there you have it from the source. Skitzo is here with a new book titled “Water From Cactus” and it’s headed straight for your eyes. The album of the same name is right around the corner. The EDM project really interests me, but we will have to save that conversation for next time. It’s none stop around here. Keep coming back. I guarantee that we have something for you, whether you know it or not. Magic time. Peace.
Signing Off,
