999 Tour Rocks Detroit: A Night of Nerdcore Nirvana

By Jamie Jupiter

Detroit’s Lager House was the place to be this past Saturday as the 999 Tour rolled into town, delivering an unforgettable night of nerdcore rap that left the Motor City buzzing with excitement. Featuring performances by MC LARS, Schaffer The Dark Lord, Shubzilla & Bill Beats, and MC Snax, the show was a perfect blend of high energy, humor, and raw talent.

The evening kicked off at 8 PM with MC Snax, whose infectious mix of flow and comedy immediately won over the crowd. His set, filled with witty lyrics about a variety of fun topics—including food—set the tone for what was to be a night of pure entertainment.

Next up were Shubzilla & Bill Beats from Seattle. Shubzilla took the stage with an electrifying presence, seamlessly blending rock and hip hop. Her powerful performance had the crowd going “boom,” a moment that resonated deeply within me. It was more than just a concert; it was a visceral experience that shook the very core of the audience.

Then came Schaffer The Dark Lord, who brought a unique twist to the night with his persona reminiscent of a college professor turned MC. His set was a brilliant mix of comedic thoughts and energetic delivery, keeping the crowd engaged and entertained.

But the true highlight of the night was MC LARS. Exploding onto the stage with an energy that few performers can match, he played a mix of new material and beloved hits. Fans who had come out to see him were not disappointed. MC LARS closed the concert with a performance befitting the king of nerdcore rap, leaving everyone in awe and wanting more.

One of the most memorable moments of the night was when Bob Roxxx answered a trivia question from MC Snax. “What candy was E.T. obsessed with?” Without missing a beat, Roxxx blurted out “Reese’s Pieces” as if he had watched the movie that very morning. His reward? A king-size bag of the candy, much to the delight of the crowd.

Throughout the evening, Rox-TV engaged with numerous fans, all of whom expressed their eagerness for these talented artists to return to the Motor City. The energy, the music, and the overall vibe of the night were simply unparalleled.

As the 999 Tour prepares to launch the West Coast leg in Los Angeles on June 6th, I can’t help but recommend that fans on that side of the country do whatever it takes to catch this tour. If the Detroit show was any indication, they are in for a night they won’t soon forget.
